Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Here's a link to a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 window sticker with nice options:

I'm really bummed about the new 2012 Jeep SRT8 price. It's just so much higher than I'm willing to pay even with no options added and I really want one.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

This just in on my Car and Driver newsfeed:

Chrysler Prices New SRT8 Models:
-Dodge Charger SRT8 $46,620
-300 SRT8 $47,995
-Grand Cherokee SRT8 $55,295

I assume those are all base prices.

Great post dude but, at the end of the day it is still a Jeep and if we are talking 60K+ for a loaded one you have entered an area you don't belong IMHO. I had said earlier in the day that maybe I am just not the demographic Jeep is shooting for but if I'm a doctor and I pull up to my Country Club front door and have my guy remove the clubs from the back of my Jeep SRT8 do you really think my fellow clubbers will think I am smart/cool/sophisticated because I got a Jeep and not a BMW X5/Range Rover/Porsche? I really don't think so. Like it or not the later are status symbols even if they don't have the performance of an SRT8. A Jeep is not a status symbol its a very cool ride that has a segment it dominates. That target IMHO is right at 50K (give or take).

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Thanks for the kinds words. The $54,470 price came from Jim Morrison, head of Jeep Product Marketing.

If there are any new news on Monday, I'll definitely post new information.

Very well said, one you start venturing into the high 50s your paying for status as well. Not many people will be looking for a jeep in that range.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Dang so my loaded Jeep SRT8 will be right about $62K MSRP (including $825 for transport). Even at invoice that is probably still $58K. OUCH!!! Even with employee discount that is still around $53K + tax/title/license = $60K out the door and that is a GOOD DEAL. Most folks off the street would be paying $62K + tax/title/license + markup = $68-$70K. I just can't believe that AT ALL. What a disappointment... What a way to end a great week too.. My dealer is calling me Monday with my VIN and if the prices are the same I'm telling him to keep it.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I just think with the loaded out 2010's coming in at over $52k...for IMO...half the vehicle......$54k is not that bad....and then add more for the options you want. The quality of materials, fit and finish etc etc. are worlds above the last model. They are even close to other high performance SUV's in price....

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Mr. Morrison and his crew have overshot their runway. I'm being sincere when I say I am not trying to over dramatize this or be controversial. I've owned quite a few cars, modified a few as well. I live within my means but am not cheap. I also do not nickel & dime and pester the service departments on them. With that said, Jeep is "selling us out" here. They are purposely raising the price and purposely attempting to change the persona of the WK2 SRT8. It's not even the raw, abrasive, kick ass machine the WK version projected. It's not going to happen....they are not going to infiltrate the Porsche and BMW ranks with any significance.

I'm not even angry, I'm actually sad. Was really looking forward to this, continuing to support the SRT brand and have both Jeep SRT8 versions. I'm simply not going to pay the ransom though. Mr. Morrison, hopefully you have a bit of time to sit down this weekend and read our responses to see how this has affected your REAL demographic. From my internet reading, the outrageous opinion of the price is fairly consistent across most message boards and article comment sections. Not a good start in attempting to win over Porsche and BMW owners, because part of their draw is that people talk up those brands, not bash their crazy pricing moves.
