One other thing, is this SRT8 gonna get slapped with a Gas Guzzler tax?

No and for those of you who use it for work purposes like I do it does meet the weight requirement for the IRS for business use so that might help in your decision process as well given the first year tax break on a new vehicle before depreciation sets in.

+1

I read the post from Jeep PR about all the things on the SRT then looked at the build sheet for my Overland 4x4 and except for the 6.4L Hemi most all the other items are a wash. Exchange the air suspension for the adjustable shocks, remove the 2 speed transfer case to pay for the Brembo's and I just don't see $14000 more value in the SRT which is the price difference between base V8 Overland 4x4 WITH the Pano roof and the base SRT without the roof, leather dash and tow package.

Jeep can talk about the Cayenne, BMW and LR all they want but they screwed the pooch on this one.

Having owned 2 Cayennes and currently a month into my 2011 Cayenne S I agree it would take years, decades for Jeep to enter into the same conversations as Porsche, BMW even the GL series Mercedes Benz. I had no problem paying what I did for my current Cayenne because I expected to, it's a Porsche not a Jeep. In fact I drive it more then my SRT Jeep....why? It's a Porsche and for those that are brand loyal before you get bent out of shape I offer you to go ride in one for a week or the new X5 then make a statement. I'm not saying the SRT Jeep is not comparable in features and comforts but once you ride in both you will see the difference. I also echo the sentiments of another poster in reference to the experience after the sell like bringing the vehicle in for service. Were treated like royalty at Porsche, given comparable rentals, food vouchers, preferred parking at various locations. The waiting rooms are luxurious and the shop area is spotless on the flip side you take your 60K+ jeep in for service you will stand in line to get waited on, some service writer will stroll out to your car and throw in some paper footing if your lucky and since your waiting for whatever it is (yes wait Jeep/Chrysler do not offer loaners) you have the priveledge of sitting in some questionable waiting room with all sorts of fun characters with access to a vending machine.

I test drove a 2011 Cayenne and was disappointed with the ride as it was jarring on rough roads which seems to be how most of the roads are where I live. I honestly wasn't that much more impressed than what I've already got in my 05 Grand Cherokee Limited as far as just the ride.

I had said earlier in the day that maybe I am just not the demographic Jeep is shooting for but if I'm a doctor and I pull up to my Country Club front door and have my guy remove the clubs from the back of my Jeep SRT8 do you really think my fellow clubbers will think I am smart/cool/sophisticated because I got a Jeep and not a BMW X5/Range Rover/Porsche? I really don't think so. Like it or not the later are status symbols even if they don't have the performance of an SRT8. A Jeep is not a status symbol its a very cool ride that has a segment it dominates. That target IMHO is right at 50K (give or take).
Thats kinda like saying no one would buy a viper because it was a Dodge. They did and a Dodge became a status symbol. This Jeep will raise the bar and do the same. It is a huge jump from the previous model yes, which is a shocker for most, but the SRT group will continue to rise in price. Just feel lucky if you owned a WKI SRT8 because those days are over now.

You most likely test drove a base model the S and Turbo have some very nice features including different ride comfort selection
