I think it is still a great value even at the higher price. I do not want a sports car I want a sports SUV and to get that there is still nothing else out there with the same performance, looks and handling of the WKII SRT.

That is a slap in the face to the people that have and are wanting pre-orders of the new Jeep. Pay a minimum of $4,300 (Jeep $52,295 - 300SRT $46,600 = $4,300) difference in order to acquire a vehicle that has the same motor and so on, with an old non-updated transmission, and non-updated navigation unit, there is simply no justification here. Unnecessary price increase in hopes of stepping up into a market segment that is orientated at the status symbol, no chance will the fragmentation in the audiences of Jeep SRT owners and Porsche/Land Rover/BMW/MB mesh together as one.

while I agree and understand what your saying....YOU still cant get ANY of the above mentioned makers high performance SUV for what you can get the 2012 Jeep SRT8 for loaded up. The loaded with all options Jeep SRT8 is like $62k. Cayenne T-$123k, X5M-$90K+, LR SS-100K and so on. Really...take a step back and look at what your getting. And I would guess not many will pay MSRP...I know I wont. I also figure that a VERY nice base 2012 Jeep SRT will be right around $50k after discounts etc. Also,.....the 730n is not the 730n in the previous gen SRt Jeep. Its the RHR...not the REN. You guys should do some browsinga nd eading in the wk2 non-srt forums here. Its BY FAR the BEST on the net. There lots of posts there that will relate to the 2012 SRT Jeep. Maybe Im stupid....but I see the value compared to other high performance SUV's.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

You can't be serious when honestly comparing the fit and finish of the Wk2 jeep vs a BMW x5m or the RR supercharged and so on, its like apples and oranges, my family has a 2010 RR and a x5m and the difference in fit and finish it night and day. Although I agree on the performance aspect of things, it doesn't matter, that's where after market mods can come into play, pay to play as you say, go fast mods are just a step away. In the end its still a Jeep.

Also I'm looking at 2010 RR sport supercharged SUV's for around 65k, that's pretty much what I'll pay for the Wk2 MSRP, don't get me wrong I'd love to own the new SRT but at the price they're just losing out. I'm also not the only one that is being turned off by this sentiment, dozens of members on different forums I've spoken with are on the edge of canceling their orders once pricing becomes official.

So you own a 2011 WKII? If you have just looked at them on the lots that is not the same as living with them day to day. I have owned both RR's and BMW's and the Jeep I am happy to say is on par with both the LR and BMW. The LR actually looks very dated inside now and can not be compared to the WKII. The outside of course will always be classic.

I don't own a Wk2 no sorry, family member has one driven it many times as we both live very close on campus together and sometimes take each others vehicles whenever we're out and about. So yes I have driven it many times, he has a overland summit, great truck, and its one of the reasons why I wanted the SRT also (aside from the mind boggling speed/power) aside from that I'll save my 70+k(everything in) for something else.

I am very serious......take a look at the wk2 forums where many owners of the exact vehicles you are listing have come over to the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Considering that the Jeep SRT has a base of 55+k, take the 62-63k loaded price, add tax and licencing fees and doc fees all on top of that, your reaching 70k, as I said in the post, "everything in".

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Did you even read my posts? I said I'd be interested in purchasing one of those vehicles USED, not brand new. Can't do that with the new Jeep.

On another note, what could the possible invoice price of the 55k base MSRP Wk2 SRT be?

Thanks

EDIT: Also forgot to mention I'm in Canada, I know we're screwed we'll be getting charged like 75k msrp base for the wk2 srt8, another reason why I can simply jump over the boarder to the US and purchase a used RR sport supercharged for 65ish, bring it all over and save money rather than purchasing a base wk2 srt8.

..over the Overland? That might be Jeep's problem: The comparison between the Overland and the SRT8 and not a comparison to a class of vehicles like Ms and AMGs Jeep will never compete with (and shouldn't even pretend to doing so).

If the base-price of the SRT8 is $55,295, let's compare that to the 4x4 HEMI Overland at $45,190.

What is the reason for the additional $7K? The features that come on the SRT8 but not on the Overland are easily covered by the features the Overland has standard but the SRT8 does not. Pano-roof and the expensive air-suspension - just to name two of it.

I think the comparison between Overland and SRT8 will be made much more often in real life than the comparison between an SRT8 and an X5 M.

To me, the Overland has an excellent value. While I don't want to call the SRT8 overpriced because I do compare it to the competition as well, I have to rate it "fair" - based on the Overland. On the SRT8, Jeep is obviously trying to cash in on the "limited and exclusive"-factor - something that won't go too well with its established customers.

I'll keep a close eye on the SRT8 and monitor what's going to happen 'til MY14. If Jeep is going to add some nice features like a new tranny and a new nav-unit WITHOUT increasing the price even further, I might be in. If I would be in the market right now, I'd have a hard time going for it..
