Unless you are a Chrysler employee and get their discount, I honestly do not see anyone getting invoice. I don't care what your dealer said.

If you get a nicely equipped vehicle around $61k, and DO GET invoice, you'd still be looking at around $60k out the door. Invoice isn't going to be less than $56.5-57k for a $61k vehicle. If you have a trade, then obviously that helps a lot. But straight up purchase I feel confident my numbers will be pretty damn close, perhaps even on the low side as I think I was generous with a $300 doc fee/title/registration/dealer fee/etc. charge, and 5% tax addition.

Unfortunately I think you are right. I was expecting $53k out the door before but for $7k more, I don't know. You start to look at alternatives at that point.

CASE AND POINT ABOUT DEPRECIATION!!!!! Can you imagine losing 40k in one year depreciation on that BMW?
I think because of the SRT8's relative value to an Overland. If the cost is $65k including taxes and registration and an Overland is $50k for the same, I do estimate 1st and 2nd yr deprecation to be $1k per month. ($24k loss, $41k trade-in/resale value).

If I want to loose $1k per month, there are other alternatives, one of which is to keep my beater 2009 Jeep SRT8 and buy a used Porsche 911 Turbo. I put depreciation/cost of ownership of a vehicle before actual cost of the vehicle.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I don't think depreciation will be that bad, I got employee pricing on my '06 Jeep SRT8 and paid $41,xxx then sold it 4 1/2 years later with 23k miles for 29,900. I do think the new SRT8 is overpriced, I have a 2011 Overland and feel it is a good deal for what you get but the SRT8 is not worth 16k more than sticker on a similarly optioned Overland.

^I agree= At $55k base + options it is overpriced by $10k-$12k. If they fix this Monday and price it right the depreciation will by like the WK and be reasonable.

Add me to the list of those who are outraged, and to the list of those who will not be buying one. Jeep has, essentially, done nothing more than add a "second sticker" so to speak, a "market adjustment" that screams nothing more than greed. This is going to alienate a lot of 1st gen owners, who, like myself, cannot afford or justify spending $30k-$40k to upgrade to the WK2 SRT8.

Thanks for your opinion Milous, it means probably more than anyone else's opinion on here, so we appreciate you and your presence here and your bluntness about things. I totally agree. I guess I am seeing this as more of a premium product than any other SRT and that has me chapped a bit. I think if I was paying full MSRP I would probably not go through with it. Then again, nothing is in stone and I haven't gotten a final price from my guy yet, so who knows what will happen now.....

Lol...I've been called out? Ha ha ha.
Snailblaze owners all said the same thing that it was to loud, too expensive and to flashy. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm buying and why and it has nothing to do with what people say. However I also don't spend months claiming how much I like something and how I can wait to get one and then when the price gets released start calling it names like obnoxious. Who's been called out again?

PS. Look for one post saying I was getting one anytime soon. You won't find one.

Yep, thank you.

And I won't beat a dead horse.....but, again, to me this is about pricing the vehicle as a "status" vehicle because they think they can. Heck, people like me pre-ordered it without knowing the price, assuming they wouldn't price gauge us (looking at the cost of the Overland, etc). Maybe we were all part of the problem....they saw me and Schleprock and all of us who were chomping at the bit to have it come hell or high water, and said, "Why not? These suckas want it no matter what."
