The issue here is not so much as to the "value" of the new Jeep in the marketplace, the issue is the unexpected unjustifiable slammed-in-your-face-bend-us-over 30% increase in price.

^ I agree, and I feel for those who have already ordered. Since mentally, they have already taken delivery.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

A loaded Overland has a 3000 dollar mark up. So SRT with most options...MSRP 61,775, invoice...58,775. Then if you live in MA. add 6.25% sales tax... so now were at 62,448 plus doc fee.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Milous, I totally agree with you. There is nothing I can say to dispute all of your comments in the last 2 posts you made here, as you are SPOT ON!

I feel ripped off and the only way I will get this is if I rip Chrysler off back in the process. This means getting invoice or employee pricing. Even then I will still feel ripped off, but will feel blessed as one of the lucky few who managed to get it w/out being too raked over the coals. Otherwise I'm giving Chrysler the finger and getting a BMW (E92 M3)...

Whether we win or lose, if this recipe makes Chrysler successful, all the more power to them to give a finger to Porsche and BMW and others long-term. But I don't think it will work out for them. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the SRT MSRP prices come down sooner than later (due to slow sales)...

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Although I am really pissed about being sanbagged by Jeep on the pricing, I don;t loose sight of the fact that the GC SRT is a fantastic SUV. The only issue that I thought would be a non issue was with the 5 speed. I thought the new motor and wide torque band would make up for its shortcommings, but according to C&D it does not. For the 50k pre tax that I had intended to spend on the SRT I thought so what. There is nothing near the price that is close. But potentially 10k more later this is not so easily said.

Agreed. When this pricing hits my order, I will be cancelling my pre-order.

I've owned a 97 XJ and loved the Jeep community because I live not far from some great off-road trails. I never modded it but I lived through the eyes of every owner that drove by my house on the way to the park.

In the former car enthusiast club I belonged to (and ran the Wisconsin Chapter) there was a SRT8 Jeep owner that always came to our racing events and that's when I fell in love with the SRT8s. I've always wanted to get into the performance SUV market without breaking my bank. In 2007 I won a $40k gift from Pontiac and through some magic ended up with a fully loaded 08 TBSS 3SS. Bye bye Jeep. Didn't need two SUVs. I've always wanted an SRT8 and now as my daily driven TBSS gets up in miles and the speed bug has bitten again I looked for what I had remembered. A bunch of my friends are mopar heads and have been trying to get me to give up the SS for a while. I did some looking and was disappointed that the 2010 was the last year of the srt8. After a little bit of time, someone from their mopar club directed me to the press releases saying the srt8gc was being reborn.
I did my research and finally found a great dealership to work with. Based on prev model pricing schemes and what I know of model redesigns from the Chev/Pontiac world, I thought pricing would be around where the rumors were.

Just disappointed. My 806 credit score would rather not spend $60k on anything from Jeep.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Boston - my post wasn't meant to insult. PLEASE go and look at the pricing for the previous gen SRT compared to the previous gen Overland then look at the price for both this overpriced insult to the American public that just bailed Chrysler out and the current Overland. Then come here and tell me how Chrysler can justify the huge increase?

My guess, is you will only be able to spout out what the other zombies on here has "it....is....worth....it"

Well, the facts are the facts and it is NOT worth it, pure and simple. Chrysler just believes there are stupid people out there willing to overlook the obvious. And, apparently they may be right.

That's ok, maybe I will be able to pick up used one in 2-3 years and take advantage of your lose.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I keep running numbers here, and I just don't feel comfortable dropping that extra $11-13k unexpected cash from my liquid fund in this economy. It took a couple years to build up the healthy amount my wife and I have after getting married, buying a house, having a baby, buying her SRT8, etc. I'm TDY for work the next three days, upon my return I think I will visit the dealer and be honest with them. If they won't give invoice, I won't even consider the truck, I'll cancel right there. If they will, I'll drag it out while I continue to think about the numbers. I'm eligible for Affiliate and the dealer said they would honor it, but we all know Chrysler is going to shoot that down now too.

Another thing I am a bit peeved about is the production. Having spoke with my father (31yr GM assistant plant supervisor where they made all fuel injection, TB, cruise components) about the lack of D1's so far...we believe that Jeep is simply short on parts for the SRT8's and that all orders are going to be backlogged. He feels they either underestimated production orders seriously or there was an initial setback in parts production due to a defect/problem. When he assisted with the startup of the Saturn plant they had to junk a whole lot of parts because of a tiny casting defect. Just my theory though. Whole reason I ordered early and am going through this is to be in the initial build, now it doesn't seem like MANY of us are.

Hmmm, come to think of it, if I was going by the three strikes rule here:
1x I get to pay $11k-13k more for truck
2x They aren't going to offer Affiliate Pricing
3x Most likely not in initial production build and who knows when it is coming.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Schlep, you could argue 1 and 2 are too similar to be separate. So try and hang in there a bit longer... Hopefully no more strikes come our way. I'm hoping for a free base next tomorrow when they announce an MSRP which is LOWER than the one posted now. That is, if a miracle happens by then.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Shlep. Regardless of affiliate pricing, the dealer has to be pressured now on the price.
They will be hearing the same thing we're hearing now. $60k?
My dealer has ordered two and guaranteed invoice or affiliate. If you're dealer won't work with you, pm me. That is if Invoice is near what you're willing to pay. Only time will tell on that one.
