Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I wish US Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealers could sell new vehicles to Canadians, I've been told my many of the US ones I've called their dealer agreement disallows them to sell to Canadians.

Then come here and tell me how Chrysler can justify the huge increase?

My guess, is you will only be able to spout out what the other zombies on here has "it....is....worth....it"

Well, the facts are the facts and it is NOT worth it, pure and simple. Chrysler just believes there are stupid people out there willing to overlook the obvious. And, apparently they may be right.

That's ok, maybe I will be able to pick up used one in 2-3 years and take advantage of your lose.
Look, I don't care if it is more expensive than the previous one, and to be honest, I like its interior and looks better than its predecessor, plus I can tow my race car while enjoying it as a fun DD without having to shell out 80-110k for a german one......

If it is not for you, no one if forcing you to buy one, just go get something else, but to call people stupid is kind of childish......

BTW thanks to QuickOne, I have mine guaranteed at MSRP......

Best......

Thumbs down Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

$61770 MSRP is what my order comes out to (pending price release)

My dealer has also promised invoice to move another unit. When we were doing the order he said the Overlands have about a $3500 difference between msrp and invoice.

Let's just say the SRT8 has a $4200 difference....

That still comes out to $57570 + (WI tx 5.5%) $3166.35. That's still $60,736.35 plus title/license/misc fees.

If Jeep had a history of luxury products similar to BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes, and a history of superb showroom/support service like the other manufacturers, I could see this price as being valid.

Truth is, Jeep doesn't have this rep. They don't and haven't had any products that match service/support of these other manufacturers. They haven't earned the right to bump the price onto consumers in what they want you to believe is the same.

Great point I never even thought of the service perspective.
Yeah, I can see Jeep stepping up to run a service program like a Porsche or Mercedes dealership

Roughly speaking, multiply the base MSRP x .94:

$55,295 less $800 destination = $54.495

$54.495 x .94 = $51,225

add back in the destination: $51,225 + $800 = $52,025 invoice.

Subtotal: $52,025

Now add in the options - multiply options MSRP x .92

Or, to make things simpler, multiple the MSRP sticker price including destination and all options by .93 and you won't be too far off of invoice cost. Dealer also has a holdback amount that will be >$1500.00.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Boston - you are guaranteed MSRP? LOL! What a steal HAHAHAHA!

Listen, I bought one of the first 3000 GCSRTs for EP pricing in 06 (about $200 under invoice) because I knew they would need to move units at some point (and this is when they first came out, were in crazy demand and were priced fully loaded MSRP at around 45K) and offered EP in July and August of the first year of production.

If you are excited to be getting this overpriced one at MSRP, I am sorry man, but you need to do some more research. These will definately be drastically reduced later in the year and you (like many of those that paid 5-10K over MSRP in 06 will be very upset that you did.

EDIT - and since Quickone has one on order for invoice, I take it you meant you had one guaranteed at invoice.

$57982 the first way, $57446 the .93 way. I was pretty spot on I'd say.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Yeah loaded invoice looks like $57K then based on this rumored MSRP. Still about $10K over what I had planned to spend last September when I first wanted that (and heard it was rumored to be 500hp @ $50K). Bummer. Hopefully I can get EP pricing and that will probably seal the deal for me. Otherwise, I just may have to pass and try my best NOT to be jealous!

Milous: How certain is it that Chrysler will put the new pricing numbers in the ordering system on Monday (whatever that pricing may be)?

50/50. I'm expecting it, but would not be surprised to see it delayed. Production is scheduled to start on Wednesday. Going by past model years they have always released pricing ahead of the production start day.

Milous, any info as to whether my theory is right as to why so few are at D1 (especially with the sample size we have here as a test)? You think/hear that they simply don't have enough parts allocation due to underestimating orders or part production issues?

I have not been able to get any solid answers... there are only 60 in D1 and another 60 or so in "pre-production" holding status. Not a single retail model has been built (typically they will run off a handful prior to production start).
