Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Schleprock, no worries, and yes it is the new design, from what I hear the Porsche Panamera Turbo S will top both of them (at least for performance, looks nasty ugly - literally).

As for getting their attention, if this hasn't then, I recommend a streaking session at their SRT assembly plant (eyes up front only), while holding picketing signs.

but none of these orders will be canceled, the people may not take them, but the dealer will still keep the order for inventory.

Only way they will "get it" is if people simply don't buy them because they refuse to pay the price. That will make them "get it" real fast.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Well I honestly think everything in here being said is obviously based on the emotional feeling that everyone who has LOVED Jeeps and SRT8s for so long is experiencing right now. I think the feeling will change with time.

The $10k jump is shocking and surely putting many potential buyers off as it should. I mean if you dont like something dont get it, right? BUT that said, I don't think anyone is really in position to say that the pricing is BAD or WRONG because we have NO IDEA what it costs to make an SRT8 Jeep (IF anyone does please post up, and saying oh well the WK goes for xxx means nothing, thats got a totally different motor and suspension interior and driveline and by different i mean, not as nice)

Also no one knows the MOTIVES of this pricing. Maybe they are going for a different segment finally because well they feel they've produced a HIGHER-QUALITY performance SUV from the last generation! I think they have and I think they as a company have the right to price it more competitively with the nicer Suv's even though its WAY less than anything its going against! Even at $55k, I think its priced VERY FAIRLY. Of course, until I drive on first hand I cant say exactly but I think if its like it seems for all reviews its well worth the price.

Everyone just seems mad and shocked because its a "JEEP" and the older model was $10k LESS! so this is more like a kick in the nuts to loyalists and current gen owners. But in reality is it fair to expect a HUGE IMPOROVEMENT (as far as vehicle materials and dynamics go) but NO INCREASE in price??? I dont think so! But guess what, how else can they make a move to a more profitable segment? It may just be that they have to charge somewhere in this $upper 50s neighborhood just to make the same margins as they did the first-gen??

You cant sit here and say its wrong for a business to try and make MORE $. Thats what we all do or try to do every day. It's what we want so why cant they, right? You have to see it from their business standpoint. Just cause they offered you an awesome truck at a much more affordable price years ago doesn't mean they have to or will even want to again, does it? And thats assuming all costs and financials stayed the same.

I think all good things do come to an end, and sometimes in business they have to make changes or up prices to go after another segment, just part of the real world economy we have today and business in general. You can argue its unnecessary or blah-blah but until you work at corporate and crunch the ACTUAL numbers they are, you cant really say whats what.

Im not trying to sit here and say that because of this YOU SHOULD buy it, by all means if you don't like it, dont support it! BUT I am saying that from the other side of the play ground, you can see what is going on here. Its a strategical move and IF IT FAILS, lots of people will be in position to get a nice truck at a nice price. IF IT WORKS then Jeep will be making big strides to a higher market of which many of us do not live in All in all it is what it is. Im not blaming them at all, they certainly haven't done anything WRONG in my mind. Just my .02

Yep, I might tend to agree, but the "feeling" will change back each and every month when that $1,500 payment check is written!

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

LOL. Hey man I tried, haha, well as for the reasoning behind the price increase. I understand vehicles will increase in prices over the years due to inflation and what not, its just been a general increase as the years have gone by. Why is it that the 300C SRT didn't increase as significantly as the Jeep SRT? It is also a completely redesigned model and has more advanced features than that of the JEEP SRT even.

As for the customer base, I did make a post before can't remember which forum but it had a video of Ralph stating some stuff. Here is what I said in my original post with the video link provided.

Quote:
I don't get it, he states that he wants to create a "safe haven" and "we pay attention to the owners, because at the end of the day they make or break us", they're alienating the owners and potential enthusiasts/owners that were excited to order and now are contemplating cancelling their orders. Really sucks because he stated in another video "honestly in the last 3 or 4 years we have somewhat lost our focus in srt the products haven't been lost but the brand itself, so by putting them under one roof and one leader we can address the SRT customer directly, its a very different customer than the normal, the base vehicles, they come from a super enthusiastic background, more much affluent customer, and they need to be handled differently". Way to alienate those SRT customers.

Heres the link for the above video:

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I also find it rather odd that Chrysler decided to release the initial pricing details to the PRESS first rather than to their own dealers/customers! One could speculate that this was done to "test" the waters and allow for "adjustments", but I believe that it is unlikely they will alter prices once they have released them - that wouldn't look so good.
