Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Great base price. I think the $2995 for the Lux II package is too high and another $1195 for the Panoramic glass. That's OK though as it's only an option and I can do without those items. Now I'll just have to sit back and wait for Black Clear Coat to become available. It's gotta happen sometime in the hopefully not to distant future.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I think Chrysler/Jeep knows that these SRTs are usually ordered fully loaded by the dealers.

Fully loaded is just a bit over $50k, so perhaps there is one option they anticipated nobody getting to keep it under $50K, anyways my point is I think the base price is artificially low because the options are so high and if they are fully loaded then they are basically $50K and anyone and everyone was pegging this for $50k from the beginning, I know I was (although admittedly, I was saying "500HP and $50K" but anyways we know that engine is good for 500 at the crank easily). So they will get their $50K one way or another, the base price just makes it that much more appealing really.. Upsell Upsell Upsell!! (Yes, I'm in Marketing too!)

As such, I'm not really sold on the options here, and I dislike the idea of all of these crash avoidance type things. I also am now disliking the look of the panoramic roof when the shade is open. Anyways, I am just very turned off by those now and the fact they are $4300, that's 10% of the car. No thanks. They're not getting that full $50K from me.

So mine should be around $44,125 with the tow pkg, maybe less if I can get invoice pricing..

I just PRAY this MSRP is legit, or at least really damn close!

ps. Milous can you just post up when you change the wk2jeeps.com MSRP info, so I don't have to keep reloading it every 5 minutes waiting for something more official..

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

They are definitely rapping you on the Pano roof. It should be included in the LUXII package and not an additional option. It makes sense the LUXII is $3K since it includes the advanced warning package. I wish however they made the pano roof part of the LUXII and made the advanced warning a separate option.

My biggest concern is how the tow package will be installed. I am hoping the hitch is still covered by a removable trim piece and not permanently removed if you order the hitch.

I completely agree with everything you said here.

edit: actually I kind of wish I could just get the leather upgrade only of that lux package. I will definitely try to get the leather pieces from the dealer parts department.

Yeah well with an old Carrera - weight is everything so it gets into your mind, and then turns into a sickness.

How do you figure LUX II at a couple hundred pounds...I can see the rear power lift gate mechanism...but all the other gadgets???

So for the tow package - does that just include the hitch or is it uprated, cooling, alternator etc????

As far as towing I just threw down $400 for a "hitch receiver" for the LR4...not the hitch...the receiver so I could plug in a bike rack....Land Rover...what a racket. So, if I am doing any towing that beast will handle 7500lbs...prolly just use that.

But yeah, deep down its the weight ;-)

I understand and was just pulling your chain. I've been aflicted by the same sickness having been in and around track cars, including Porsche's for a few decades. Hell, I spent $4K on forged wheels for my street Boxster S because I saved 5 lbs per corner (which is HUGE BTW)

I just get a kick out of anyone commenting on saving weight on a 5000 lb SUV.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

The Panoramic roof will likely add around a hundred lbs, just due to the weight of the glass, trim, shade, rails, and all of the wiring as well.

The leather is light, but the parts and wiring in the Luxury pkg for the blindspot/lane change monitoring and adaptive cruise/collision avoidance probably only add about 10 lbs.

The High Performance audio pkg probably adds 50lbs too, considering there's 2x as many speakers+wiring, a larger amp, and a sub/box or two...

So it is SOME weight, not a lot, but it's definitely worth considering since this vehicle is already so darn heavy. BUT, would it be enough weight to thwart someone from upgrading to these pkgs if they really wanted them? Unlikely..

How would the seats differ from luxury to a non luxury package?
