I think it's one of the slickest features that SRT has ever come out with. Lucky Charger and 300C owners! Had this been available in the '12 Jeep I think the "price complaint" level would have been noticeably less.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Does anyone know at what status point an order can't be modified? I don't have a VIN yet so could I possible remove options still? I just want to know my options once the pricing is finally released. I may have to forgo the $4k+ sunroof option!

if the MSRP is 55K, then I may be out. There are a lot of options in that price range. I am not really sure how they are justifying the cost.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I think it can be changed until it hits D1 status, although not VIN or VON makes it hard to check I think. I would guess, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if your order doesn't have a VIN assigned yet, then you can still change it.

Agreed. The only way I will pay that much is if on future model years they change the stereo to the Harmon Karden with 8.4 display, change the center display and update the transmission. Like I said before, still pisses me off that they didn't build it into the 2011 GC.

What are your new car options at that price range?

I don't know of anything new that competes?

Didn't someone price out a CL63 AMG for about the same ($60K)? Also an M3 - they start around $55K too...

Not new, but you can pick up some good used performance cars at that price.

My GMS price for a new CTS-V Sedan, loaded, with the Black Diamond special paint. (which BTW, I think GM made waaaaay too many CTS-V's this year, there are a ton of '11s on the lots searching the northeast)

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I always thought of caddys as my grandfather's car.....

Not that there is anything wrong with that.....

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Like Boston, I'm just too young for the CTS-V, but it's definitely on my radar for when I hit my late 40s... Anyways, that is a sick deal. That's like $8K in discounts?? Isn't that a new car for the most part? Or do you mean they made too many and thus the discounting has begun already??

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Yeah for $55k something better could be had USED! But I dont of ANYTHING more capable and overall as excellent as the new SRT8 (pending it drives better and is as reliable as the first gen)

Sure $55k opens a bunch of new windows but I think the people who were "really" going to get one are "still" going to get one I mean why would you shop for a performance SUV and then when price jumps $10k be looking at a car or an even nicer SUV? Like if you want an X5M I doubt you were ever considering an SRT8 lets be honest! I dont see this change as doing to much except to the people who were really squeezing themselves to get one. There I can see the disappointment, but Id bet MOST people (not all) who can afford a $50k car can afford a $60k, just my .02

The "price shock" has already worn off on me as Im seeing what really good value it still is. The $45k was just to good to be true. Although other models may be less (dont know why?? - maybe less overall capability) the Jeep is totally worth the $.

Read the official press release Scott posted, then think about $55k. I bet most of the JEEP GUYS and the SRT lovers will still be buying! This thing will do fine I think, time will change everything. Sad that Ive lost another $10k, but totally awesome that Im going to end up with one of those.
