Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I guess what really bothers me about the proposed 55K MSRP is that I just don't see where it comes from. Is the SRT all of a sudden 10K more car than the overland? I just hope that this all becomes history and final pricing is announced. Then we will really know what we are dealing with.

And as far as reliability on the performance pages? They matched exactly every run I've done on the 1/4 mile. So explain why they are not reliable. I do agree, they're not very useful, other than for sh*ts and giggles. Doesn't actually serve any purpose.

I'm comparing a better built higher end vehicle that is quicker and faster, handles better and has better resale value that is why and since the SRT8 is not capable of off roading any more then the C63 AMG is feel its a good comp Just like the dash hawk, the performance pages can be manipulated or skewed do to any type of wheel spin I'd only use them for fun. I've seen my fair share of dispcrepencies from the performance pages or similar instruments vs. actual track times I don't tend to just speak from my and have put more time in to tuning and track racing my Jeep then most so again I speak from experience.

I respect your opinion Wade and you make a great argument. But I will never compare an SUV to a sedan. JMO.....

No offense to anyone, but I too am shopping this Jeep SRT8 against the likes of a CL63AMG, M3, etc.. It's just what it is. Chrysler can't stop people from comparing their SUVs to a car. While I want the Jeep, I don't really want (to pay for) any OTHER SUV right now, I like the Jeep and only the Jeep (can't afford the Cayenne Turbo and don't want a base Cayenne or even the S but maybe a GTS)... Many people shop for what looks cool when they need a new car. I'm looking at a dozen or so vehicles right now, all varying sizes and shapes. Some my wife doesn't like/want, but some I do, so they're on the list... It's just how people go through their decision-making process, they weigh all the options, both good and bad...

I know what you mean Scott and I understand the other guys thoughts and not trying to belittle him in any way I guess it comes down to how each of us think or what draws us to certain vehicles. For me buying the 07 SRT Jeep was a multi purpose reason. I for one could write it off for business use, it was different and I just had to be different then everyone here in my town, it was fast another plus, however I never bought it for the SUV use, my back section short of a gym bag or football equipment has never been used for anything more, the SUV use for most SUV for off roading capabilities is obsolete on the SRT so basically for me it was fast, different, and a write off so comparing it to other vehicles that give me the same feeling is why I compare it to sedans short of not getting the write off due to the weight requirement (which the new SRT Jeep does have). So QuickOne I get ya brother no hard feelings.

yeah....I either want an suv, truck, sedan or 2 door according to my needs. I need an suv for its utility(which I thnk the srt provides, I dont offroad and never will)all weather capabilities, quell my need for speed(and when I say speed...I mean power, sound and looks) and family friendly. Thats what i need in an suv. SUv's are also more friendly to me personally....Im 6'6' and 250 pounds and just not comfortable in a sedan whether it be while driving, entering/exiting etc. Ive driven everything....from all makes that appeal to me. The SUV is just what I prefer.....plus I see too many women in my area driving the merc, lexus. bmw's etc. for my tastes....LOL

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Yeah I guarantee if I get the Jeep there will be times I wish I had a small car. Vice versa too. It just is what it is. We can't own every possible type of car out there, even if sometimes we want to.

As for the GTS, I think I saw it, well on cars.com I saw it... It's the only GTS within 250 miles, or at least within the price range I searched. It looks sweet but it's an older model slower model Cayenne. I'd spend every waking moment wishing it was a Turbo. I could afford the Turbo but my wife might divorce me and I'd always be complaining how broke I am then.

ps. Why is it that I can slap a turbo or supercharger on about any car or SUV for around $8K or so, but to put one on a base model Porsche Cayenne, it's $25K (still talking aftermarket)???? WTF??

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Man, still no news. I was soooo excited to get this new Jeep until last Friday when everything started getting around about prelim pricing. Now, we're almost a week later and still nothing official. I don't even want to bother anymore with getting the new one and just keep my WK1 and start over modding it.
