Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I would think before Chrysler approved a vehicle for production they would know their cost for each unit down to the penny. As a small transportation business owner, I know what it costs to run a truck and I bid on contracts accordingly.

Knowing their cost and what percent profit they want/need to make on each unit means they already have MSRP.

I believe (i have no evidence to back this up whatsoever) one of two things happened:

1) Canadian pricing was incorrectly (or intentionally) released to all of the vehicle review companies and they ran with it creating this massive internet buzz.

2) Chrysler was gauging market reaction to the higher price and determining how high they could bump the profit side of the equation.

I am drained from the anticipation and would like to have a confirmed MSRP.

I love our chances. Canada's price will not and can not be equal to US. There are to many inherent costs that increase the price in Canada over the US.

Going down to CT today and test driving a S4. If I only new what the SRT was going to cost it would certainly help in the decision making.

I did try out an Overland, many things to like, especially the price but....
RCM. Have fun on your test drive. There is a girl on the other site who had a 2008 GCSRT8, sold it for the 2011 S4. She loved the S4, but you know what happened after 4 months? She's selling to get back in a Jeep.
and in her words

"I love my S4, it's a great car, but it definitely doesn't have the get up and go that the Jeep has. In a perfect world, I would have both!
Just something to consider before dropping the coin on the S4.

A fully loaded 2012 WKII SRT8 at $55K MSRP would be 100% justified and I don't think anybody would complain about it.
We (Canada) also bailed out Chrysler and our Canadian dollar is now worth more than the US$.
$1 CDN = $1.0536 US
or $1 US = $0.9491 CDN as of closing July 22, 2011.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

In todays paper, The Toronto Star, Wheels section, front page.....features new SRT8s comming and they have the 2012 GC SRT8 as $54,995 as MSRP Canadian.

This has been one week since the US sites have published their US MSRPs. If Chrysler plans to change the pricing, why would they not send out a memo by now to stop publishing wrong prices even to say that revised pricing will follow.

Shows the new challenger 392 6.4L with a 0$ green levy, the 5.7L hemi has a $1,000. I showed that to my dealer and that's what he confirmed stating the new SRT Jeep has a $1,000 green levy.

As for the fully loaded price of 55k, I'm with that I believe that sounds about right, MY2012 is coming out to 62k loaded so 55k US sounds spot on.
I did see that. I still haven't talked to my dealer but if you look at the calculator and based on the advertised fuel mileage it would fall into the $4,000 levy. Its not that I don't believe you mlarco but I am not sure how we can each have a different levy.

Can anyone with a priced Canadian order chime in with what theirs is showing for green levy? This way if in fact it is $1,000 then I can try and find out why mine is at the $4,000 or maybe my dealer is trying to extract extra.

SRT pricing isn't updated but I can't seem to locate pricing on the other GC models. Maybe it is the browser on my phone

Loaning 4x as much and losing 2x yes, but consider the US has 10x the population as Canada does; if you look at it in that way each tax payer in Canada paid A LOT more than each America tax payer.
