I misread the poll and voted for $50K thinking that was the "equipped" price. If I could rescind it I would and vote for the $45K BASE price so you can deduct 1 from the $50K line and add it to the $45K line

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Target MSRP (US)

I voted for $45k, but now even if it came in at the same or less than an Overland, I'm getting an Overland. I don't need that much speed and power. No one wants to race and those that do, I've never lost with a 4.7L WK. Why make it easier on myself with speed/acceleration when I don't need it. I don't like the low front end on the SRT8 and prefer the Overland for ice and heavy snow.

My wife said the same thing to me last night: Why don't I just get the Overland Summit? She said I have two small kids and it's not like I'm going on the track.

As I have said in the past, I am looking for my WRX replacement as an SUV, and this so far has fit the bill. But I guess, it's not like the Overland Hemi has no power or anything.

All this stuff with the cost and delays, etc. It's making me waffle a bit. we shall see!

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Target MSRP (US)

I wonder what an Overland would do with an Eaton Supercharger bolted on? At least then I'd get back my QuadraLift which the SRT team stole from my new Jeep!

For that matter, what would a 2012 SRT8 look like on 35s?

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Target MSRP (US)

The survey shows half of a pretty normal distribution curve even though the sample size is small and targetted to Jeep enthusiast. My guess would be that Chrysler would want the SRT line to sell well, but not so much that you see SRT8s everywhere. Marketing the Jeep SRT 8 as a top end product would allow Chrysler to capture a portion of the high end market share (BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Porsche, etc). The current product line will continue to expand it's market share due to how well the wk2s have been accepted.

If you don't want to buy an SRT8 due to pricing, there's a good chance that the Overland or Overland Summit would be a VERY attractive alternative.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think a Jeep SRT 8 with a base MSRP of 50K+ is probably the right place for Chrysler. We'll see what happens when offical pricing is released

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Target MSRP (US)

Bumpdate

Looks like a majority of poll responses pre-dated the August 10th WK2 SRT8 second sticker mark, the August 5th US credit rating downgrade, and the latest European banking and government debt fears.

Note that as of late July 2011, 83% of 87 respondents would be willing to spend $50K or less on the SRT8 JGC.

It appears that the poll may still be open, or perhaps another one would be useful?
