This is awesome! It is looking better and better with each little snapshot we get.

I can't wait until it is finally unveiled.

Wink Re: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a GO!

This is all great news. I had a 2006 SRT8 (Inferno red) that I let go a few years ago (priorities and difficulties) and always thought in terms of "bang for the buck" the Jeep SRT8 was an excellent package.

I like Milous' spill the beans graphic (I think he used that one on the first gen WK SRT8 when he was being peppered with questions)

I think Milous and other folks in the know get a kick out of the speculation and it is pretty hard to tell what's up in lots of these "spy shots" If you look closely though they do reveal a few things that have not been covered yet.

The fact that this project is a reality is pretty startling with what the car industry has been through since the last generation SRT8.

I do hope (looks and asthetics aside) there is some performance engineering that goes into this model (previous gen lightened transfer case) for example. Weight kills performance cars. I hope that in an effort to regain the fastest ute crown it is not just about stuffing high hp under the hood. 6 Pistons in the front are a step in the right direction and some underhood coooling as evidence in the above photos. 6.4(5) is alot of cubes to keep cool.

Maybe the 6.4 can get to 550 NA - dunno. I think it would be hard to spec a 6.5 unless that has some other (truck) use.

Anyway - i think there is alot more in store

Re: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a GO!

If you look at the hood coverings it appears that there is mesh in it over 2 spots like the new srt will have hood vents of some kind.

Now I think this is the most important question of all.

Can you confirm with all the speculation going on, if there is going to be a 201x Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8?

Thanks in advanced, Frank.

P.S. A simple smiley face or sad face will suffice.

The engineers are also refusing to answer the repeated attempts to get an answer for why the Grand has bloated to a 2.5 ton pig on wheels.

i see their answer....... It's no secret why it's gained weight, compare it to the ML.
Campare it to a Land Rover, it's positively skinny! lol

IMO...its gained weight...becasue it has gained metal. Welds, suspension, options, heavier luxury materials etc etc etc.

Re: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a GO!

It took the engineers over an hr to answer the question and truth be told they didn't give an answer, they gave an excuse. To sell a 2.5 ton Grand with basically the same V8 as the original WK is a step backwards. Luxury is nice but a better hp & torque to wight ratio would be a whole lot nicer.

Trim 500lbs off the pig or give it a serious engine upgrade. My 04WJ with the 4.7L HO is still more fun to drive than the 07WK with the 5.7L Hemi.

Re: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a GO!

nice rack joe. ps, the new jeep is light years ahead of any jeep ever put on the road....its true, ive owned plenty of jeeps, 89 cherokee, 97 wrangler, 07 laredo, 08 jgc limited and the 11 overland. trust me when i say, as good as the other jeeps were, on and off road, they cant hold this jeeps jock strap. id gladly add to the weight of the veh if this is what i get in return. i still cant believe i own an overland....i wake upo every morning and pinch myself.....i kid you not.
