Hey guys,
My first real post. Don't hate the noob.
This is just hearsay, but all the info I've seen online so far is hearsay, so no one really knows whats really going on anyway.
I was on the phone with my father yesturday about the new srt8, which he will purchase when it shows up and will promptly sell his WK1.
He told me, the sales manager at his main dealership went to several corporate events this year about the new SRT products and is also very much anticipating the new Jeep SRT.
What struck me as odd was that the sales manager told him, as far as he knows, Chrysler and Fiat are working on a joint effort to combine a SRT jeep and a Maserati offering, both with similar internals, and both with much larger engines than we expect. He said the one debuting at the New York show in April may not go into production, and that a possible V10 in the Jeep and a V12 in the Maserati SUV are possible along with the 8 speed auto coming in 2013.
I'm wondering if maybe he was talking about a mid-cycle refresh of the Jeep SRT8 with a new engine choice or something like that.
It kind of makes sense to me though.
1. It has been tested along side the BMW X5M in California, which it won't beat with only 470BHP. Apparently that is their benchmark, and it deos 0-60 in 4 flat.
2. The new Ferrari FF shooting brake, which just debuted, is a V12 and that could be an engine choice for the new Maser SUV.
3. The possible new Viper is coming out in 2013-2014, with a V10 engine, and could find its way into the mid-cycle Jeep SRT with an 8 speed auto, although I have no idea how they will manage that.
Again, it is only hearsay, albeit from a guy who sells these cars daily, has had a great relationship with my father for 20 years at the dealer, and who has seen presentations of the Jeep SRT WK2 by the manufacturer.
I thought I'd just post this long, juicy message for you guys to have a discussion about. And no, I'm not telling you which exact dealer it is.
All I really know is, the new 392ci in the challenger was nice to caress at the toronto auto show this past weekend.
What say you??
