And BTW, Jeep SELLS their vehicles to dealers. So if all 4,000 units are gone to dealers, then Jeep has done their business. Dealerships are privately owned and sell the vehicle to the customer.
I'd expect someone who owns a GTO, a 2010 GC SRT and has ordered a 2012 SRT to be very VERY annoyed by my posts. The truth that the price is too high hurts to those that waste money on such things.

I am glad all 4,000 units were sold to dealers (is it 4,000 or 3,800 Chrysler??). Gonna be sitting on lots for quite some time.

bho, perhaps you will be proven correct. However Chryco could also be attracting a new customer base similar to those new owners of Overland/Summits that want an X5M or Cayenne Turbo but want to be fiscally conservative and opt for the SRT8. Certainly there will be existing WK1 owners upgrading but if Chryco is able to attract new customers it would be a sales success.

The bigger question is retaining the customer base. This will be through vehicle history, warranty (needs improvement for SRT8) and dealer service.

I have a MY11 Overland but might consider upgrading in the future to a SRT8.

NHman

Well, we'll soon find out.

Hope it goes well for them and they sell 4,000 units each year for the rest of the WK2 run. That would mean 20,000 total units by the end of the wk2 run in 2016. When you look at the fact that the wk1 SRT had a total production of 11,717 from 2005-2010, that would mean I should be able to find a nice used one for a fraction of the cost to buy new

For example, on cars.com I see there are 20 used WK1 SRTs for sale within 50 miles of me. There are 32 used Overlands (all Years) within 50 miles of me. LOL

Say what? A "few" parts changes?

"Added more cubic inches, increased the compression ratio, redesigned the cylinder head, intake and exhaust systems...compression ratio was also increased to 10.3:1 from 9.6:1...engine breathing was increased with new higher-flow cylinder heads, a specially designed intake manifold and fresh air induction system, and exhaust headers with individual tubes encased in a stainless steel shell...larger-diameter valves and reshaped ports in the heads allow for maximized air flow... the intake manifold was designed with larger-diameter and shorter runners for higher-speed tuning. Exhaust is routed through a large-diameter (2.75-inch vs. 2.5-inch) exhaust system with four-inch chrome tips...performance-oriented camshaft profiles were developed to allow more air in and out of the cylinders...the high-performance SRT 6.1-liter HEMI is strengthened with redesigned components, including a reinforced engine block, forged steel crankshaft, high-strength powdered-metal connecting rods, floating-pin pistons (cooled by oil squirters), and an oil pan modified to manage oil return to the pan sump at high engine speeds..."

Just like with the WK2, there are a lot of other changes on the WK1 vs the non SRT models.

dont you mean 500 miles of you? I did a similar search and there were like 5 total within 50 miles of you. I thought 50 sounded like a lot especially 20 SRT's.....

#1. Different hood for one. A hard part not found on any of the other models and from Scotts info, (or yours) made by an expensive process. Different fender flares.

#2 Case and point. Sounds like they took two units put them together and fixed what broke. And it's still breaking.

#3..Most of that description is saying more air flow with exhaust and intake. A few part changes was pretty accurate. Its got a new cam, Intake manifold and different pistons. Not anywhere near the tech thats in the 6.4. Per your info a while back.
Wait a second here....Wasn't you who told us that this was a completely redesign of the engine with Millions of dollars in development and that it wasn't just a 6.1 redeveloped? I could look for the quote, but just going off what you said when you were defending it when it was announced.

Nope, just did it again. I live just outside Philly and there are 20 GC SRT8s for sale within 50 miles of me. There are 3 within 20 miles of me.

There are 36 within 100 miles.

Cars.com lists 235 total for sale.

Those "few" parts changes btw resulted in an increase of a whopping 90 hp. The increase on the 6.4L vs the 6.1L is only 50 hp.

Milous, you sure have changed the swing of your bat, huh?

I recall such a short time ago how you said this was a Torque Monster and the HP was irrelevant because of the new torque curve.

What happened?

Are you disaggreeing with me on the production volumes over the sales volumes or are you just argueing about the rebates on the excess UNSOLD wk1srt8's?

If all the units sell out, I don't think there will be any rebates. Do you?

Guess we're on different sides of the track these days Milous. I'm sorry to see that.
