Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Anyone know if the programming has been updated for this trans in SRT8 that allows for Rev matched downshifts since it has paddle shifters on the steering wheel? That would be sweet!

I think if that was soemthing new for the 2012...it would have been advertised/leaked.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Does anyone know if the Merc AMG's have the rev match function? All I could find in a google search were comments that they DO NOT do this. Neither do Tiptronic Porsche's. I believe the only gearboxes that have the level of integration and speed required to do this electronically are the dual clutch boxes.

LED taillights (really want)
8 sp auto trans (I doubt it will be used in HEMI V-8's, anyone know for sure?)
Possible price increase?
Maybe able to order Pano roof by itself?
More color choices
Bugs fixed

Can anybody think of any other reasons to wait?
Be careful of what you wish for. The year after I bought my summer ride they upped the tranny from a 6 to an 8 speed along with an HP increase. People are complaining about the tranny now gear hunting rather than doing a quick downshift. 0-60 time for newer model didn't improve either. With the 6.4, I know I'm going to be happy with the 5 speed.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

5 speed is fine with me. I could careless how many gears it has and if it gets 1MPG better because of the additional gears.

I agree completely. When I buy a car I buy it for the long term (witness my 97 Wrangler that I've had for 15 years and will still keep). I would be concerned after the warranty expires.

It would not be fair to say that, not at all.

As the old saying goes, "good things come to those that wait". But you have to jump aboard at some point or you will miss out on all the fun.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

There is a lot to be said for the current 5 speed. It well proven to take huge amounts of torque. Guess what tranny Mercedes uses for its most expensive V-12 cars. Their new 7 speed? No, the same 5 speed tranny you will get in your SRT8.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

8-speed transmission sounds like something for TOWING.

Why would they put it in the WK2 SRT.

Two words: "Fuel economy".

Sorry. I meant to ask. How many people who are actually buying the srt8 are concerned with fuel economy or would want added features that improve fuel economy at the expense of performance? Maybe, with the srt brand spinoff we will see some "performance" hybrids.
