2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Should I order one now or wait another year?

2013 SRT8
LED taillights (really want)
8 sp auto trans (I doubt it will be used in HEMI V-8's, anyone know for sure?)
Possible price increase?
Maybe able to order Pano roof by itself?
More color choices
Bugs fixed

Can anybody think of any other reasons to wait?

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Not sure any of that is a reason to wait...my guess is the LED's will be a plug and play swap...at least on the LR3 to LR4 they are.

Probably different colors...

I doubt the 8 speed will show up any time soon in this gen...

Bugs...well the WK2 has been around awhile...bugs are being worked out so I think you will be ok...

With all that being said I was right out of the gate for the 06's which was a PIA trying to get one and dealing with dealers etc...so I am waiting until spring/summer 2012...the issue for me is I will be close to the 2013 model year so...who knows.

I must say it is fun to sit back and know that I will be getting one down the road and watch the hype etc on the board...see initial reactions, and avoid any pitfalls that come up. Like I said I had 3 06 SRT's (including my dealer) sell out from under me while I was trying to get one and had to go to another state to get one...no time for that kind of nonsense with this vehicle.

Why wait when the 2011 model is still not fully revealed. You could keep waiting for evermore for the next best thing. Order now and enjoy an extra year.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Thanks for the responses, yeah don't know if I could hold off another year in anticipation, ha!

So I have to get a sunroof for the wife. Don't need other options that go with it. Which would be better to get.

Rear DVD with standard roof (no kids but planning to in next couple years)

Luxury Pkg & Pano roof - $1695 more (Don't do lots of highway driving, power lift gate probably best part of pkg)

If you're gonna have the car for a while, the rear DVD is almost a must for trips. It shuts them up. I don't know what I did on long trips, but I know my dad smacked me from the front seat!

I would wait for another year. I do not trust 1st run cars all. Even more so if its from Chrysler.

Re: 2012 or 2013 SRT8???

Hey Jeeps,
I understand your concern for the extra goodies that will eventually come out as the years progress, but it will take too long, or possible not at all for the 8 speed to show up in the Jeep version of the SRT8. Also, the price differences for the 2006 version to the 2010 version was so minor. The only way I can see big increases in price would be a future large tax increase on all large SUV's for gas guzzler purposes.

My best advice would be to buy the 2012 outright if you can, then wait a year or two for a new one with better options and colors. At least in Ontario, Canada, we saw prices here stay around MSRP for used SRT8 Jeeps, so many you could just buy a new one, then sell it for virtually the same amount after a year when it's still a hot commodity.

Good Luck,
Ben

Colors sometimes change or get added mid-year too.

ALL manufacturer's have issues with 1st year builds. The 2012 WK SRT8 is for the most part a "2nd year" build.

Some manufacturers have less problems than others with 1st year builds. I would be willing to buy a 1st run Ford but never a 1st run Jeep. Major parts of the SRT is new like the driveline, thus me calling the SRT8 WK a 1st run build.

I can pull many Fords that have just as many problems as a Jeep........like the current stang, f150, lincolns etc.

If you always wait for the latest improvements or updates you'll be forever waiting!

Just pull the trigger mate, and enjoy being the first on the block with an SRT8
