Re: 2012 Overland -> SRT8...worth it?

I agree with all other posts here. I owned a 2010 for little over a year and sold it in a moment of weakness (My wife was pregnant with our first). I have regretted that decision ever since. I drive an Altitude with the Hemi now, but it's nowhere near as awesome as the SRT.

The 12/13 vs. 14 dilemma is very similar to that of the 06/07 to 08/09/10. The 8 Speed and 8.4 UConnect will make a huge difference in resale in the coming years.

When I first saw the 2014's I hated the grill and front end. As time went on and even before I bought the 2014 i actually really started to like the 2014 front end. Now when I see a 2012 it doesn't look right to me and I think the 2014 front end is a lot nicer.

Re: 2012 Overland -> SRT8...worth it?

Well I was in a similar quandary. I had a 2012 Overland V8 with about 18,000 miles (30K Kilometres) The Overland was loaded and Black and Tan. It was a great car but I found that I wanted a little more character. The Overland was also gas hog to be polite. Once I moved to the SRT, I never looked back. I got Bright White with the black interior and again, every option. I love the car and every time I get in it I smile. Worth the move. Not a regret. If you can move to the 2014. When you're behind the wheel the grill is irrelevant. The headlights work well and have cleaners. I love the interior and the larger NAV setup and associated software. The 8 speed makes gas mileage bearable and it performs well. All things considered I would try to go for the 2014.

Agree. To me, the '12 and '13 now look like they have buckteeth with that grill.

Re: 2012 Overland -> SRT8...worth it?

The more videos I watch and the more pictures I look at, the '14 grills on the SRT now just look mean to me and really work well with the vehicle. I found a local dealer that has a new white '14 in-stock, so I'll try to do a test drive this weekend. However, a new one is probably still out of my reach, so I'l still be searching for a pre-owned '14 in the mid-$50k's. The '12-'13 SRT8 is now definitely off my radar, although very nice, I know I'd be kicking myself if I didn't step up to the '14. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Low blow... I don't see the 08 guys saying this about the 06 guys... I think it's all the chrome, it gives it a luxury look versus a sport look which it deserves. Either way think of everything.

Didn't want to turn this into a model year bashing. Both Schleprock and myself had 2012's that we traded in/sold for 2014's and we are talking about the reasons why we did. The above is just our opinions on the different models years which both of us seem to agree on.

Listen, 2012 or 2013 or 2014 that are all great SRT's. For some of us that have had both models years the 2014 is a much better option. That is all.

Also, the 2014's also have all the chrome that you mention.

Yea but the slimmer grille, why did they do this? Sporty does not equal chrome, never has since the muscle car era...
