100% stock? No way.

Auto, AWD, pointing straight ahead, is not going to have 0.5 seconds shaved off by a "great driver." It's not rocket science.

#15 ·
Only way I could MAYBE see the new WK2 cracking a 12 is:

A downhill dragstrip in 20 degree temps with the tires real gooey and John Force behind the wheel (even though this thing is as easy to launch as anything)

Sorry guys, so far with the info Ive seen and #s at hand, this thing seems a tad slower in a straight line. BUT thats only HALF the battle :)

#18 ·
Hmmm... Saw this earlier. Heard it was hot there that day as well.

I personally don't think it will hit a 12 sec run stock. But low-mid 13's consistent.

#30 ·
The thing is though guys. If the WK2 SRT8 was to be around 45 - 50k no one would even care to dispute or compare it's performance as long as it's around the same numbers as the WK1 SRT8.
But at 55k base one is just wondering where that supercharger is.

#42 ·
Chrysler is using some fancy wording to make it appear less by taking away features that were standard in other models. In reality, it's not. A fully loaded WK2 vs a fully loaded WK1 is not cheaper.
They decoupled options to make it "appear" cheaper. There were more standard features on the 2009.

C'mon, really?!

The WK2 is by far a much better vehicle all around than the 2009. The WK2 Overland includes adjustable suspension. Decoupling a few features here and there makes up for the fact that this FAR better version is $2,600 LESS than an 09 Overland?

Who are you trying to convince?

#43 ·
Oh I'm sorry quickone if my opinions bother you. My God I will think of you next time I make a remark about something to make sure I don't bitch too much.
Why don't you go make another poll to see what people think about things. You already done like 50 of them so one would think you are interested in knowing what people thinks.

Think you are making things a bit too personal, but I can't see why. Maybe you need a hobby?

#47 ·
There's a place to bitch and it's in the thread titled after your bitch. Not a 1/4 mile thread.
I do have a hobby, and it's called Jeeps. I'm only trying to keep things organized and the topic on point. I'm tired of hearing on every thread, about the pricing, which is irrelevant to the OP's topic.
As for the # of polls I have done, (which is maybe 6) is to see what peoples opinion is. So go post your opinion on price in there and again, not in the 1/4 mile in 13.81 thread.

As for the standard features comparison. Below are the standard features for the WK2 SRT8. I have bolded those features that are also standard on the Overland (with many standard on the Laredo in fact).

Sorry, but the price increase is not warranted. Any one who thinks they are getting some great deal needs to be aware that all they are getting is a vehicle that should be priced far lower.

All this isn't worth $15K? (that was a joke)
I am not saying your getting some super deal.
But I am saying that you are getting alot for your money overall.
The Overland is a great deal.
A Mustang GT on the Ford Website prices out over $46K The GT500 over 52K.

?he SRT only items are LOW production, high cost items. The suspension in the Jeep is different from all the other SRT vehicles as it has like 4-5 modes. It is UNIQUE to the Jeep only! The drivetrain in the SRt Jeep is also different...yes the motor is the same...but do any of the other SRT's have AWD(select trac), Rear elsd and other various parts in an awd system that are UNIQUE to the Jeep SRT? I also know the SRT Jeep hood is different from the others to save weight(ie. different aluminum and process) Then theres the SRT Jeeps brakes....6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears...again...Jeep SRT ONLY!

Thats just a few examples of 2012 jeep SRT unique high cost items to purchase and develop.

Opinions and debates are healthy and potentially helpful for individuals trying to make decisions, but only to a certain degree. The constant back and forth on every thread is wearing on the forum. The WK1 SRT8 seems to be a great vehicle that was available at a great price. The WK2 appears to be a great vehicle at a price that some are happy with and others are not. The price is what it is...

Everyone should take a deep breath and work towards getting back to a collaborative forum of Jeep (and SRT8) owners and potential owners.

I would love to see a new post (in that same spirit) from a current SRT8 owner sharing details about some of their initial mods (CAI, lights, interior tricks, etc.) that they would do again if they had a new vehicle.

Geez, can we just start deleting posts that are IRRELEVANT to the topic? This is getting quite old...
I'm guilty of it myself but agree that we need to move on about price, it is what it is and there is nothing we can do about it.
I Digress and apologize. I'm just tired of hearing the price issue vs compared to 2010 models.
i0r15 No harm, no foul. We agree that its a sweet Jeep. Lets leave it at that, right? ;)

I know QuickOne personally and I can guarantee you he is a stand out guy.....

So can everyone cut him a break?

I for one am sick and tired of the WK2 haters here, personally I can do without your preaching of how overpriced it is.....

if you think it is overpriced or if you can't afford it, stick to your "unsurpassed" WK1, is that really hard to do?
It had gotten on my nerves so I vented. Sorry and thanks.

Come on now Quick, you started the poop flinging with the "get a better job so you can afford it" nonsense. Surely you realize wealthy people can make dumb financial decisions just as often as the common man.

Your perspective is hugely valuable here given your WK1SRT8 experience. Don't take that away from the board, eh?

Jeep created a kick arse vehicle that most of us would love to own, many of us can afford, and an equal if not greater number of us have concerns over both performance and price. Jeep created this scrutiny with the second sticker, not potential or existing customers.
