I think we all love the new SRT8 and some more than others.
There might be haters of this vehicle. But I doubt they are on this forum.
Here we are just a bunch of loyal customers.
+1

I actually LOVE the WK2. But, I will (as stated before) never pay that price for a Jeep. NEVER.

WK2 interior: Yeah, baby!
WK2 IRS and air suspension: Very nice!
WK2: Six-piston calipers and 380mm rotors: Lovin' it!

WK2 weight gain: Yuk!
WK2 straight line performance: A bit of a letdown, but not too bad.
WK2 price: That was the last straw.

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

Weight gain and straight line performance are the same reason in essence because if the straight line performance was stellar, the weight gain would not be an issue for you, would it?
And for the record, it does better in the twisties even with the weight gain. This coming from the guys that drove the WK1SRT8 day in and day out on a track.

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

So last week I finally pulled the trigger on a 2011 overland 5.7 liter with adaptive cruise control for around 41k + tax. I have to say after driving it around a few times I came to realize that I really wouldn't have much of a use for all the extra hp in an SUV anyways. There is no way that I personally feel as comfortable racing around in a big suv as I would in a smaller car like my evo. For me I am much more confortable leaving the sporty driving to a sports sedan and the comfort cruising to the Overland.

So i guess my point is that you can get a 41k overland and a used sports car for around 20k and still end up around the same price as an SRT-8 and have cars that I feel are better suited for their intended tasks. Your results may vary

For what it's worth, here is TruckTrend's results in 0-60 and the quarter mile:

0-60: 4.6 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.3 sec 103.2 mph

Have you driven any of the Jeep SRT8s? I'm only asking that because everyone who I know who has driven one would easily say it was a sports car.

The original WK overland would be tough to imagine as feeling sporty or "sports car" like as well, but I can attest, the SRT is.
Once you have felt what they are actually capable of as far as "sports car" measurements are concerned, you might reconsider your feelings.
Even at the SRT experience in 2010, 4 years of SRT Jeeps on the road, every owner of the other SRTs, (other than the Jeep owners) had no idea the Jeep was going to be fastest around the track than the other cars.

Is this like the Tow hitch that is $300 and tomorrow it's $900?
