It's not like they are only making 77 of them and that's it (like the Aston One 77)

and in the same time they will be making 200,000 for nonSRT Jeeps compared to 7600. So whats your point?

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

My point is that production numbers are high enough for economies of scale to occur.

Also, it is not likely these Brembo brakes are a design specific to the SRT Jeep and are probably a model that Brembo produces already and possibly in quite large amounts which will lower wholesale even more.

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

I know people bitch a lot about the price (including myself) but I really think that Chrysler has done it to themselves. If the new WK2 SRT8 had better performance than its competitors (like the previous gen) than I think most of us would see it as the value Chrysler keep going on about. Most of us I think are just trying to find ways to justify to ourselves why paying that price makes sense. The interior argument is a wash because the interiors across the entire line improved, even though prices dropped by thousands.

Most of the different parts on the SRT are not a large cost part. Painted trim is of little cost. The suspension is new to Jeep, but not new technology. I will give that the cost of the hood, bumpers and side moldings are different and will have some additional cost.

If this new SRT whooped the shit out of the Cayenne turbo S, these forums would be nothing but excitement and praise. Instead, us potential owners are looking at only being able to purchase and afford the "poor man's" Porsche which is 30K cheaper, but also slower

There is no way they are going to order parts for 2 years production ahead of time.
What if there is a flaw? There is no reason to outlay 2 years of production when your only talking another 3800 peices. The cost savings is minimal and outlaying the cash to be tied up for over 2 years isn't the way it works...
And why would you discount down to wholesale? Aren't we talking MSRP?
Isn't Markup on anything from a dealer, instead an online store a great deal higher?

I'd say that same brake kit at a Jeep dealer is $5k (MSRP)
And how do we know it's not this kit:
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/b...-p-112536.html
priced at $8794 MSRP?

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

I thought we were talking about the cost to Chrysler for the parts to mfg the WK2 SRT8. If were were talking about MSRP, we would be talking about $100,000 Jeep

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

Let's stop the price argument and wait till these Jeep's are in an actual owner's garage and then hear what they are like. I for one will not buy one because of the price and my disappointment after owning a WK2, even though I can afford one I would rather buy an old Viper or drive my M3 which is much more fun than my old SRT8.

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

you gen1 SRT owners are so full of crap! Ive read your rants about how the gen1 SRT destroyed the competition....blah blah blah!

The 2006 Cayenne turbo ran a 13.6 1/4 mile and the 2008 ran 13.3's. How exactly did the 2006-2010 Jeep SRT detroy the competition?

Heres a direct comparison of all four hi po SUV's....
stats from all 4
