Heres a direct comparison of all four hi po SUV's....

For someone that spent thousands of $$$ to make their Jeep look like an SRT8 you sure have alot of hate for the WK1. I don't think any of us original SRT8 owner's said it destroyed the competition, we stated for the price and performance the WK1 had it was a screaming deal, the WK2 is not. Even though it is less than the SUV competition it's against it still comes in last in all comparison test's.

ohhh...so your gonna be the dick to bring that "clone" argument into this huh? Dick move! You have no idea why i did it or the reason. Im sure if you did...you would feel like SCUM for that statement.

I have 0 hate for the gen1 SRT...much respect...now some of their owners? Different story. but when its owners have made false statements on multiple sites how the new SRt is much slower than the competetion when they were faster is just BS!

I guess it hurts to see the facts and not some fairytale.....

Wow really, that was not a "dick" move, I was stating that since you have a carbon copy of an SRT other than the engine why are you so quick to knock it. I agree that the WK2 is overall a higher quality vehicle but if not for the success of the WK1 there would be no new version.

Thats what you dont understand...Im not knocking it one bit....just stating the facts that the gen 1 SRT was not the ultimate end all for SUV's. It wasnt the fastest, most tech advanced, most quality...nothing for what its owners made it out to be.

I 100% agree, but when a new model comes out and there is no noticeable performance improvement, even though it is a higher quality vehicle a price increase that high is hard to accept for loyal previous owner's.

what does performance increase have to do with it? Its a 10x better vehicle just going by specs.....

Sorry Scott, but it most certainly did destroy the competition when it first came out in 2006. And thus, the reason people think that SRT COMPLETELY missed the mark when coming out with the new version.

Those of us that purchased in 06 when they first came out know where to find the info

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT8
  • Quicker to 60 mph than a Porsche Cayman S
  • Quicker around the skidpad than a Ford Mustang GT
  • Quicker through gas than a Dodge Viper
In outright speed, it flat spanked every vehicle here. Jeep has been bragging that the GC SRT8 runs to 60 mph in under 5.0 sec., wet or dry. They weren’t lying: In our testing it ripped to 60 in just 4.6 sec. and to the quarter mile in 13.2 at 104.1 mph. Those are sports-car numbers!

Re: 2012 runs 13.81

Guess I changed my avatar too soon.

For the record, there's more bitchin' in this forum pre-availability, than there is in the entire WK2 forum. Neener, neener, neener.

The first-mover fanbois are gonna have to suck it up and acknowledge the price premium, cause they're gonna hear about it non-stop if they pay $60k+ for a Jeep of any version.

The critics are perhaps gonna have to get used to going without a spectacular vehicle they desire, or be patient waiting for a break.

Jeep is gonna have to live with their transparent decision to test anchor pricing strategy and move away from the price-value performance and first-class ass kicker status of the WK1 SRT8 into a highly demanding customer niche.

Lastly, it's one thing for a Massachussettes guy to call someone an asshole cause up there it's a term of endearment, but from Kentucky them are fightin' words!

I don't want to keep going back and forth and leave it at this: Specs don't win races, I understand it has more power, it also has more weight which kills any gains it would have had.

LOL......They were not out yet! The Jeep was on top. Now that they are out, SRT can't even come close with their new (much more expensive then the previous mind you) model.

Even more reason why you and the other fools willing to spend $20K more than the previous gen are sheep.
