BJB didn't spend 250K, TMK. He was just stating, for the right amount of money, you can go as fast as you want.

The point is well taken, that the vehicles like that aren't powered by the factory components.

DMD...Any updates on your rig?

Re: 2012 wk2 Jeep SRT8 breaks into 12 second 1/4 mile!!!

i have been trying to chase down the conditions needed to run a 12.97. After running the truck 4 times on my own my personal best is 13.3 in the 1/4 and 4.8 0-60. I caught up with someone at the track the day the srt8 ran a 12.97. 100 octane gas. I have a day planned at atco nj next saturday. im hopping for a cold day and 100 octane gas. and may be i'll have a 12.9 video to post!

that was me. And that is not true. There was nobody else with a wk2 srt at lapeer dragway in Michigan that day, (and nobody came up and talked to me) and in fact- I am fairly certain I had one of the first public WK2s in the country- and first in Michigan.

That 12.97 was run with 1/8 tank of sunoco 93, and about 1500 miles on the ODO. after that- she ran three consecutive 13.0s, all at 104 or 105 mph.

And if anyone is wondering, EVIC times are actually conservative by 1 or 2 tenths. Each run that day produced a track slip 1 or 2 tenths faster than the EVIC time. And FWIW, since that day, the jeep is getting faster and I have even lower times on the evic. I am confident of a 12.8, or better- in the spring when the track opens again.

here is a vid of the next run- a 13.04. This was filmed by a guy from Modern Mopar magazine- and he posted it there:

Re: 2012 wk2 Jeep SRT8 breaks into 12 second 1/4 mile!!!

During the Chat a few months ago with the SRT group one of the engineers gave the ideal launch procedure:
Switch to TRACK
- Engage 1st gear (paddle or console shifter)
- Raise rpm’s to around 1,000 but not more than 1,100
- Get your foot off the brake pedal as quickly as humanly possible to minimize brake drag, while obviously flooring the gas pedal at the same rate
- Keep a close eye on the tach, when the needle gets to 5,200, shift to 2nd gear

Is that what you are doing in your runs or something different???

awesome, I just picked mine up last night and it feels pretty responsive but I'm hoping it picks up after about 500 miles, I remember my Camaro SS felt a bit sluggish until about 500 miles. I've only got about 75 miles on it so haven't done any full out WOT runs yet.

I have found my best launches are sport mode, TC turned off, Mash it.
