2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

Hello all.

This is my very frist post so please, go easy.

I'm an officer who works nights so if I don't reply right away it's because I'm asleep during the day.

I had decided awhile back that by April 2013 I would buy an SRT8.

Well now here comes the 2014. Ugh! I thought I knew what I wanted.

I find the looks of both equally appealing. kinda leaning towards the 14 on the interior though.

This will be my daily driver. I make a one way 20 mile trip nightly to work.

Twice a year I get to go fishing, but I don't pull a boat.

Price difference is not THAT much of an issue but but tell that to the wife.

What do you think?

I have a 13' and itsan awesome vehicle...totally awesome. 0-60 in 4 seconds. But that 8 speed really moves this truck even further into the world class territory. I think the GCSRT the next 5 years will be epic and probably the top performing all around SUV.

If price is not a factor, go for the 14. 8 speed and 8.4 screen alone would sway me.

Exactly. I have a '12 Overland and I've been putting off upgrading to the SRT until we got the 8.4 inch screen and the 8-speed. Glad I waited as we got both in the same model year.

Re: 2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

14 is the way to go for sure, extra gears mean better fuel economy as well as smoother ride. Not to mention the improved styling, the interior changes with the nav and tft in the center cluster etc.

why buy old tech? you wouldn't buy a computer design based on 3 years ago.. so why do it withy or vehicle? also - when you go to trade in in 3-4-5 years on the HellCat (or whatever they end up doing) - newer gives you better trade in as well.

either way though, you'll be thrilled. the 13 is a beast, the 14 is a more refined beast

Re: 2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

If price isn't an issue then you go 14. But you said "THAT" and a loaded 12 for $52k or a loaded 14 for $68k means $16,000 in your pocket.

If you've got the money, go for it.

Edit: I realized you said 13. Getting the 12 means less depreciation and since the 14 is so much different, in a year it won't matter if its a 12 or 13. It still doesn't have an 8 speed.

Re: 2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

UPDATE

I went to a dealer today to talk numbers

The only number s he wanted to talk was 2013.

They had 2 2013 vapors that they wanted to get rid of so he was "willing to cut me a sweet deal"

$69,500 drive out after TT&L and my $10,000 down.

I politely insisted I was there for ordering information about a 2014 model.

He stated thet 2014 was not different from the 2013 and that I was just wasting money.

Then he said if I wanted to continue after the 2014 he would need a NON-REFUNDABLE $1000.00 to place the order for the 2014. Is this normal?

I thanked him and left.

Can anyone please recommend a dealer in the Houston area.

I've never ordered a vehicle before, just bought off the lot.

This will be my biggest purchase to date next to my house.

This is stressing me out.

Re: 2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

No, that is not normal. I would recommend that you never, ever talk to whomever you did again

I'll send you a PM with info on the Houston dealer I used. Easy process with no BS involved.

Re: 2013 srt8 vs. 2014 srt, help me decide

1. $69,500 out the door WITH a $10k deposit is an astonishingly awful deal. Damn near epic disaster.

2. He wants to sell what's on his lot that he cannot move, hence why he is BSing about the 2014.

3. If not BSing, he's awful to deal with nonethless because he doesn't know his own product and what is coming very soon.

4. In almost every state it is illegal for a dealer to keep a deposit on an ordered vehicle.
