Just received the latest transmission flash for the 2014 SRT dated May 2015. The 6-5 and 5-4 shifts were becoming much more noticeable and clunky. I am VERY happy with the latest software so far. I will post any further changes.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I've also received the latest tranny update yesterday. Now I don't know if the transmission needs to know my driving habits or something but I can assure you the problem still exist. Actually I've used the launch control yesterday and it shifts really REALLY hard. The techs guy says it drives smooth, Yes if you drive your srt like an 80 year granny. Soft gradual acceleration will make it that you don't notice the knocks underneath but if you accelerate normally I still feel the 4 knocks between gear 1 and 3 even on down-shift. I personally think it's the transfer case, but I'm no mechanic. I've tried the paddle shifter and I still get those knocks ( not while shifting but in between shifts)

On a different note Chrysler Canada did not offer to cover for a rental while my vehicle was being services. 70 000$ and no loaner car. I can't blame the dealership since they have their own thing going on as far as business goes. But you would expect Chrysler would honour the decision in buying from them.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

If I was you I'd START with the replacement of the transfer case. It was one of the only components not replaced on my driveline.

Mine had the following replaced with no improvement:

1. Valve body
2. All software updates
3. New transmission and torque converter
4. Entire rear driveshaft assembly including carrier bearing.
5. Entire rear diff. Assembly.
6. Both rear half shafts

All this changed nothing. Push them hard to start with the transfer case.

I too was only offered 10 days of a retail car from Chrysler. The had my SRT a total of 52 days. It really sucked, but I'm in a new SRT now with NO clunky downshifts. It's been a night and day difference between the two SRT examples.

How many miles do you have on it now? Are you saying you literally have no noticeable downshifting of any kind? Like if you didn't look at the gear indicator you couldn't even tell it was changing gears? I am super glad for you if this is the case, after your experience.

Unfortunately my new SRT (which I stupidly bought even though it was a build date near to my previous unit), still has some pretty rough and erratic downshifts after 1000 miles, but luckily no actual clunking/thunking sounds that accompany...which is an improvement for sure but I am definitely jealous if you are experiencing butter smooth shifts.

2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I'm now at 381 miles and have no clunk. Nada. I can tell it's downshifting, but it's a real gentle shift. No clunk or lurch forward. Not even the occasional 2-1 clunk at almost a stop. It's absolutely a night and day difference. It's now an absolute joy to drive. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1432242673.445704.jpg

Awesome, will be interested to hear how it continues to behave. I'm still happy with mine, as the noise was by far my biggest concern moreso than the occasional wonky shifts.

Ironically, whereas my old one would be smooth when cold and terrible when hot, the new one is more rough when cold and smooth when heated up...lol everything is so confusing.

Lol, nice touch. Did you make your 381st post to match your 381 miles pic? Btw, I have billet silver built in february. Smooth, no probs. Best color. Enjoy!

Was it really. Holy crap! Off to buy a lottery ticket. How ironic.

rlarsen it's too bad you don't live closer. I'd let you take her for a spin. She's smooooth. Hopefully yours improves with some miles.
