Was 381 the flight number of the plane on "Lost"?

So far so good. No more occasional clunking. It seems the new software give a sensation of engine braking on the 6-5 and 5-4 that is noticeable but not annoying at all. I never had a serious problem to begin with, but I am happy with the improvements. Upshifts are smooth as well. I will update as the transmission relearns. Good luck to all.

3. New transmission and torque converter
4. Entire rear driveshaft assembly including carrier bearing.
5. Entire rear diff. Assembly.
6. Both rear half shafts

All this changed nothing. Push them hard to start with the transfer case.

I too was only offered 10 days of a retail car from Chrysler. The had my SRT a total of 52 days. It really sucked, but I'm in a new SRT now with NO clunky downshifts. It's been a night and day difference between the two SRT examples.

So it all comes down to this, the clunking noise and sensation that I have definitely comes from the transfer case and I had the shop foreman agreeing with me. If you ever want to know if your problem is with the Transfer case.. Just turn your wheels all the way either right or left doesn't matter. Then forward or reverse. Apparently there is a clutch system in the transfer case and it affects it more then you have your wheels turn all the way slowly moving. After i've done that test the problem got more noticeable, and it didn't take make much to notice these clunks at start off. I knew it wasn't the transmission cuz it wasn't clunking on shifting. So i'm waiting to find out if the transfer case is screwed up or low on oil or whatever is it. .. I'm just happy that the problem is identified and there will be no more screwing around to guess what the problem is.

That's awesome.
Hopefully that is the cause of it all. Just curious,.......how do you know for sure 100% that it is the transfer case if you haven't had the transfer case replaced? Not being facetious, just curious.
Thanks and good luck!

Yeah I heard you on how do I know for sure it's the transfer case... 1) the shop formen / mechanic confirmed it he actually sat the in the back seat where the transfer case is located and he felt that clunk really good. 2) My opinion and by all means i'm not a mechanic but my clunks starts off between 1st gear and 2nd gear. and it's always in set of 4 clunks. not 3 not 5 .. always 4.

This drives me nuts for the high price of driving this beast I want it to be running good right and I know there is alot of people in the same boat as me. I will share my information as soon as I get info from the shop and hopefully this will help people while they still have warranty left.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

My (November 2014 build) replacement vehicle has smoothed out considerably, and does not clunk regardless of the relative roughness of the shift. Still a little extra "feel" to the 6-5 and 5-4 shifts, especially when cold, but honestly I could just be overly sensitized to it now.

I've definitely had to work out a few kinks (alignment, wheel balance, crooked exhaust tips, airbag backlight failed, fender flare popping out, etc.) but given that none of these are major mechanical issues like the transmission, I'm good.

Well, hopefully that's it. Good luck and keep usposted.
I assume you are getting a new transfer case?

Looks like it was too good to be true. The clunk isn't back but there is a slight thud with the 6-5 or 5-4 shift about 25% of the time. Still much better than it used to be. Overall happy I did the May transmission flash.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

Today My 14 SRT had the latest May 07, 2015 transmission software TSB done...
TSB # 21-005-15A.....Now admittedly I have only driven about 15-20 since, but SO FAR, it is a Big, Big improvement.....Almost like a transmission should have been all along, now I know there is a chance it's once again in a "learning mode", and could change back with time and milage, but I will just have to wait and see.....But it's an improvement so far, and that a step in the right direction....I only pray it's permanent, and this issue can be put behind me so I can enjoy this otherwise great vehicle...I looked at couple of other new vehicles as possible replacement, prior to this TSB, but after a test drive and getting back into the SRT there is just no comparison to the Jeep, it's power, braking & handling are untouchable, and nothing out there has more bells and whistles or luxury in this price segment

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

For me the best thing about this May software update is that at lower speeds or when slowing or coasting to a stop the trans seems to remain in the same gear and no longer seems to try and jerkily down shift a gear or two for no reason which almost stops the vehicle without the brakes being applied.... Very annoying and hard to explain in words, but sure happy it seems to have stopped doing that now
