Now, correct me if I am wrong, as I am still learning about the Jeep models. Don't the other Jeep models, such as the Overland and the Summit have the same exact 8 speed transmission? Are they not having any trouble with their shift points accelerating or decelerating? Just curious.
Thanks!

Mine is so far, shifting smooth. Mine is an early 14 build, 4/13. Only a little under 7k on the clock.
I don't have the RRT / flash info on me, but I can tell you this - it still is smooth but it seems to shift more affirmatively. Less slippage during the shifts.
Dealer SRT mechanic said there is another update coming too he heard. For certain build dates. I wonder if the build dates may coincide with the location of the transmission manufacture? Germany or US.
That's good to know. Keep us updated on the status of your Jeep please.
Good luck with the updates.

I will as the weather gets better I will be driving my baby more!

Again I will state- I never had any clunky shifting.

I also noticed going down a hill there was more engine braking now. But as soon as you apply throttle it shifted to the next gear. The mapping of the tranny shifting absolutely changed.

*BTW, on another note, he looked high and low in the TIPM. No way to turn the Halos on as DRLS.*

Can't say whether they are having similar problems, but the ZF 8HP70 is in a ton of vehicles, including every Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8...

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I have a April 2013 build 2014 model had numerous shift issues but used the wk2jeeps website and made the dealer do all the flash/upgrades .... 5 to 4 was the biggest cluster F but the latest TSB fixed it ... Only happens occasionally in Eco mode... I am sure it all could be smoother but cars these days have more technology than the space shuttle so I say it is what it is...

Now I want to know if people are having suspension issues as I already have had 1 strut replaced and about ready to go get the other one done... Maybe I am having tranny issues and can't tell with all the suspension noise...

I would find it odd if they have the same exact transmission, but zero shift clunks. Maybe it's not the transmission, but the torque converter? I would assume though would be different because of the engine sizes between the 5.7 and the 6.4.

There is a thread around about the suspension issues. I think the wires/cables on the rear shocks have to be zip tied to the shock so they do not rub up against the axles and damage them.
Good luck.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I have news as well...I got back from a trip today and picked up the Jeep (they also had to replace the steering wheel...another story). At this point I am only really using this Jeep as a testbed to determine whether the tranny issue CAN be fixed, as it has so many other issues I'm going to get it repurchased eventually anyway. However if the tranny issue is sorted I will get another Jeep SRT, despite all the problems I like them that much.

So, the FCA engineer looked at the car and determined that this was likely a characteristic of the vehicle at this time, and believes the upcoming software update (~1 month) should address the jerking issue. In the meantime he and I discussed that he should leave the battery unhooked and let the TCM completely reset to restart the "learning" process. This was done prior to me picking up the car.

When I started driving the car it had already been warmed up pretty well (it was also warm here, in the 80's), tranny was ~160F. On the way home, I had several opportunities to coast/brake gently to a stop. I can report there was NO, ZERO jerk from 6-5 or in any other gear, literally it was impossible to tell it had downshifted without looking at the indicator in the cluster. This was the case at least 4 or 5 times on the way home. However, by the time I got home I noticed it had started to get a little rough on the 6-5 shift (tranny was ~200F at this point), but I still hadn't started hearing the clunk yet.

This leads me to believe the transmission IS mechanically capable of a very smooth shift, and lends credence to the idea that a software update could resolve the issue.

In short, there's hope boys...I'm ready to stay the course and at least remain open to ordering another one of these if they can get the software right.. Without this critical issue, it's a great vehicle, even with the other problems I've experienced which I believe mostly to be flukes or relatively minor/fixable.

Great update and I hope this TSB fixes the issues. Hoping that this is the final light at the end of the tunnel.

2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I'm telling you I have the solution right here. Just turn the switch to off when you put her to bed at night. Then in the morning rotate it back to on and off you go.

It even matches the brake calipers.
