Shifting today on first long commute was vastly improved, but after warming up the transmission, the clunk is still there. Going to have them diagnose it further and just start throwing parts at it at this point...don't care if they have to replace the entire drivetrain a piece at a time, at least we'll finally have an answer so that others can go to a more direct solution if they have this problem rather than what JS and I have gone through.

Good luck man. I hope they find out what's wrong with it quickly.
I just can't wrap my head around the fact that the "engineers" and software guys at Jeep have no idea on how to fix this. Do they think that this clunk is normal and people will live with it or just go away? I think that's very poor on Jeep's part. Obviously they know there is a transmission issue, but no idea on what is causing it. For a 70K vehicle, there should almost be no issues what so ever.
Good luck all!

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

I spoke with a Jeep Resolution Team member this afternoon. They are going to review my case and see if I qualify for a replacement vehicle. I should hear back from them Friday as to what they plan on doing. In the meantime my dealer is going to continue on with diagnosing my 6-5 downshift clunk. They are now targeting the transfer case and the rear differential. An any case if they try to give it back to me fixed I feel like I should be compensated for the diminished value of my SRT, considering all the work that has been done to it I'm sure my vehicle history report will be extensive. Also the time and lost use of the vehicle. Does this sound unreasonable to anyone? I'm thinking if they try to return the vehicle to me fixed I'm going to refuse until I speak with an attorney.

To review this has been my service history this far.

1st visit for 6-5 clunk @ 506 miles. Valve body replaced.

2nd visit. Same issue @ 773 miles. Software updates.

3rd visit. Same issue @ 1551 miles. New transmission and torque converter installed. Trans relearn performed.

4th visit. Same issue @ 2252 miles. Service manager and region service manager claim its a normal condition of the vehicle. I demand a second opinion at a different dealership.

5th visit. Same issue @ 2500 miles. I took the vehicle to a new dealership, this one an SRT specialist. The service manager states that the vehicle is not operating normally and that its current condition "would drive him nuts". The carrier bearing in the driveshaft is suspected as the cause of the clunk. A whole new driveshaft assembly is installed and does not improve the condition. As stated above they are now targeting the transfer case and rear differential (just guessing at causes at this point). I am now starting my third week at the new dealership and although they seem to be working diligently on my SRT I've come to the following conclusion.

I've owned this SRT for about 5 months and it has been in for service well over 30 days. It only has about 2,560 miles on it, a quarter of which has been put on by the service department trying to remedy the problem. I've had my vehicle returned to me with grease on the armrest, door panels, seats and floor mats. On one occasion after picking up the vehicle after it was supposedly fixed, I had to turn around to retrieve a 4 inch bolt that had fallen off on to the highway in 5 o'clock traffic then bring it back to the dealer so it could be reinstalled. I've also got many hours into making, returning, and waiting for phone calls. I've only been offered a rental car for the 10 days it took to replace my transmission. This has been far and above the worst and most expensive new car experience of my life. I've purchased over $200k in jeeps over the past three years and if this is not resolved to my satisfaction it will be my last.

Well, it would seem my SRT would qualify under the lemon law, I guess I'm hoping Chrysler does the right thing here on their own and that I won't need an attorney. If they do I'll remain a Jeep/Chrysler customer. If not then I'll abandon the brand altogether. The lady I spoke with could not promise me a replacement vehicle she could only send my case up for review. I'll know more Friday.

In my opinion,.....you have been MORE than patient with this situation. I would be beside myself and pretty pissed off as I am pretty anal about where and who touches my vehicle. I think I am going to not order a 2015 SRT Jeep as bad as I have wanted one for a while now. It's too bad, but I don't want/need that headache for a 70K vehicle. For 70k, there should be almost no issues at all.
Good luck!

I'm going to mail my lemon law letter tomorrow to start to cover my bases. I'm a little behind as it is. I need an end to all of this. It truly is a shame considering what a great vehicle this could be.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

Work continues on my SRT. They're now ordering a new rear diff. assembly and both rear axles. Should be swapped out by Friday. I'm also waiting to hear from the Jeep Resolution Team on Friday as to whether or not they are going to just replace it. It's coming down to the wire.

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

Good news! Got a call tonight from Jeep Resolution. They're going to go ahead and replace my SRT! I should be getting a call in 6-10 days from another person to work out the details. I'm just ecstatic and yes I asked her if this was an April fools day prank.

Good to hear you have an option...what worries me is that this is an issue that would recur on a replacement as well.
