I've certainly thought that as well. It's such a great vehicle in every other way though so I'm willing to give it another chance. There seem to be some members here that have had no shifting issues so I think I'm going to gamble with another one. I may be a fool, but I just can't find another vehicle in this category and price range to replace it with that I like. My wife and I have spent the last couple weeks test driving new cars are to be honest they have left me empty. Let's face it, the SRT Ruins you when it comes to driving other vehicles. If I left the Jeep SRT it would probably be for a Challenger or Charger SRT, but neither have the towing capacity nor room that I need. Im drawn to the Audi S4 or S5, but again the back seats are small and they have no towing capability. I've thought about going back to a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, but again I've been spoiled by the Grand Cherokee's amenities.

Does anybody know when the model year change over occurs? I'm wondering if this takes 30 days to process then another 6-8 weeks to build, will I be into the 2016 model year?

awesome!! Hope your new one is free of issues. Glad Jeep did the right thing. I'm going to schedule an appointment for my '15 to have the tranny update and hopefully that solves the shifting issues I have. My 6-5 seems to have settled down, though under hard and sudden braking I still get the harsh lurch forward from 6-5. I'm hopeful. Good luck

Thanks. Hopefully yours is fixed with the software update. There is nothing worse than having your SRT dissected.

Honestly mine's kind of gotten bad again despite being okay the first week after the update. It's not really ideal anyway. Same boat, don't want anything else, just don't want this particular one and not sure I'm going to get lucky on a new one.

I have a 15' and don't have a tranny issue but I'm at the dealer now for a free oil change and they are updating the tranny software. Should take 20 minutes. Hopefully the update doesn't cause a new issue.

I figure I'm going to give it another try. If I get another bad one I'll use the lemon law again. Chrysler has to catch on at some point.

no clunk, but downshift issues since mile 1, 2 valve bodies and a few updates 7800 miles and still not a great downshifting trans

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

Wellll...I got the new Jeep (albeit it was built last year). Pretty sure it has the same issue, only about 60 miles on the clock. At this point, I'm going to turn up the radio, and enjoy everything else I like about the vehicle until someone discovers a definitive, slam-dunk fix. No more guinea pigging...

P.S. the Red Vapor package is AWESOME...the red, which I thought I would hate, is not the garish color that it seems to show up as in EVERY photo, in person it's much deeper, almost a wine color, and it's fantastic.

Congrats on the new Jeep! What's the build date on your new SRT?

Re: 2014/2015 - Do you have a noticeable jerk on 6-5 shifts + a clunk?

Try the tranny flash that was released and just drive it. My '15 had this issue as well. After the flash and now 8,600 miles on the clock, mine seems to have smoothed out. I get the occasional clunk at 6-5 but it is nowhere near what it used to be. This may just be a quirk of the software and mechanical components simply needing more time to break in and get their sh*t together!!!
