in 2013, US MSRP was $60920 while Canadian MSRP was $57890.

Canadians paid $3030 less for the same SRT.

This makes no sense to me other than dollar strength as a possible?
You need to recalculate . 2013 U.S. models included Luxury Package II as Standard; in Canada that package cost $2,995.

They are Standard on all models except Laredo.

Canadian prices have not been announced yet, but 2013 was cheaper. No clue why.

1% off is around $630 deducted from MSRP
2% off would be $1260 deducted from MSRP
3% off would be $1890 deducted from MSRP
4% off would be $2520 deducted from MSRP
5% off would be $3150 deducted from MSRP

in 2013, US MSRP was $60920 while Canadian MSRP was $57890.

Canadians paid $3030 less for the same SRT.

I think honestly, what it is, the designers really like Tim Horton's coffee.

Canadians are nodding their heads right now, saying AAAAaaahhhh
Actually, we were about $2,000 more for the same SRT. We have a $2,000 environment charge(gas guzzler) that the US models did not have. If I remember correctly the SRT was the only jeep model where the Canadian and US price were close to equal. All other models had the usually $5,000 price difference.

I would assume that we will have the $2,000 enviro tax again on the 2014 models.

JDR just remember we (Canada) are typically paying MSRP while in the US most are paying close to invoice. So it evens out? I wonder if Chrysler knows and compensates for this?

[edit] sorry just read Milous' post. Which puts the world back in order. In the USA things cost less than here.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Scott,

I may not be putting this in the right thread - but I remember you said you would be posing questions on the SRT to some of the Jeep engineers, etc.

Not to beat this again, but is there any understanding of why Power Folding Mirrors are NOT available, even as an option, on the SRT? I mean, they're standard on both the Overland and the Summit - but completely N/A on the SRT.

For me, it turns out, this is more than an 'inconvenience.' I recently built fairly elaborate cabinetry (complete with granite top 'counter cabinets' + two tiers above that) along the full depth on the RH side of my two-car garage, with the idea that I "knew" (by the time I got my updated Jeep) - it would for sure have PFMs. Without them, I cannot come into the garage without stopping the car, getting out, going around to the passenger side, and manually folding the mirror. When leaving, I have to pull out, stop, get out, go around to the passenger side again, and redeploy the RH mirror. Repeat every time I go in or out - times thousands over its liefetime. What a pain...

I may be missing something, but what is the logic of not having PFMs at least as an option?

I understand: for the Summit / Overland, Jeep doesn't have to stock but one mirror (for each side), since it's chrome and there is no body-colored anything on it - which is, of course, not the case for the SRT. So stocking body colored PFMs in multiple colors for a limited-run vehicle like the SRT - is unattractive to the bean counters.

But then why not give the customer the option to use the Summit / Overland (Chrome) mirrors - if PFMs are important?

Any input appreciated - thanks, Scott!

Steve

Wow, glad you found this. I think this pretty much seals the deal that we don't need this.

You could be paying too much. MFRs have been increasing "invoice" price because everyone goes in with the "Published dealer invoice" and says I want to pay this!

MSRP is a pointless reference of money today. If you pay MSRP, you must either have way too much money to care, or you are too clueless and you probably shouldn't be driving an SRT.

Or you live in Canada or elsewhere in the world and have no choice. Please don't knock the ones that have no choice. The reason we have to pay MSRP at best is because we do have people up here that are clueless or have too much money and will pay $5,000-$10,000 over MSRP.

I would be willing to bet that there are only 2 cities in this country with dealerships that got more than 5 SRT per dealership. It is definitely not very easy to find/buy an SRT GC up here. I had called 15 dealerships before I found one that had one confirmed coming in. I paid MSRP and I feel that was a good deal for here.

Your urgency is the cause of your price.
Most dealers would love to order a unit for you, well below MSRP because it is a $0 cost sale. He gets the deposit, gets your money when you come in and he doesn't have to pay for that car for over 30 days, sometimes longer.
It doesn't even sit on the lot taking up retail space.
So, you do have a choice, but not if you can't wait.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Again, that logic does not apply here in Canada for vehicles like that, trust me. Some cities in the states got more SRT than all of Canada. Your scenario works out perfectly in those cities. Up here your scenario does not fly.

It has nothing to do with not being able to wait. We get very little supply, so if we take the time to wait, hoping the price gets better, we will miss out. Simple as that.

I would love to have the situation that you guys in the states have but that simply is not and will never be the case up here.

I agree with everything you are saying Quickone about dealerships and how they operate with orders. I am just trying to shed some light on how it works up here with specialty vehicles like the SRT.
