Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Milous - at the risk of getting our hopes up...

The Canadians in here that have ordered SRT's - on first allocation that is (Jan 15/16/17 etc) - with the US SRT banks currently closed, does this suggest that we (in Canada) might actually get our SRT's sooner than if the banks were still open for US orders for SRTs?

If Americans can't order SRT's right now - my brain is telling me that my order will actually be made quicker because it's first allocation, so I might just get it sooner. I had heard 5-6-7 month waits for Canadians with previous models.

With production gearing up Feb 11 - would this mean 5-6-7 months from Feb 11? or from Jan 15th area when ordered?

Hoping for a May/June (3 or 4 month) Christmas!

Thanks as always!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

JDR8, I don't want to put a damper on anything but the same thing happened when the 2012's were first released. The Canadian order banks opend about a week before the American order banks. Mine was place the first day we could order in Canada and American's were getting their jeeps about 1 month before mine was even built.

I believe that the U.S. banks were closed early as they filled the initial allocation. It's too early to predict availability/production scheduling for Canada. They built very few Canadian SRT's for the 2013 model year (<100). Hopefully this number will increase for the 2014 model year - should know more in the weeks ahead.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

I wish Chrysler would build in order the orders come in and ship out as well the same way. If it was just the Jeeps, I'd understand not going out of their way to send three SRT's to Western Canada. Thing is, Chrysler sends a decent amount of cars/trucks etc via rail and then semi transport to Western Canada - I think they'd fit in a few SRT's if they were ordered in first allocation.

Where I live or how many Dodge 1500's or Darts a dealership agrees to take in an order shouldn't play into whether or not my Jeep is ever built in a timely fashion. It does, I'm just saying I wish it wasn't that way. If you order something, you'd like to assume you get it in the order it was ordered unless a line retooling was needed or something which isn't the case here.

Ah well, wishful thinking. Canada doesn't have many people in comparison to larger markets and it's those larger markets that keep the companies in business. it is what it is.

It's killing me! I don't know what to do.
Order a SRT8 right away and probably get it in 6 months or so or wait to see if any Special models get released and pray I could actually get one in Canada.
Argh!

Maybe once spring hits and I don't have to drive a pickup truck around anymore the anguish will ease.

I would sure like to see the Canadian allocations increased. An SRT8 Jeep sighting up here is rare.

Cheers

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

It's odd.

I wish I could get the Chrysler's CEO on the phone. I'd say -

Let me get this right, a few years back Chrysler was on the brink of death. You filed for Bankruptcy protection and you needed bail-out funding to survive. Very few people were buying Chrysler and it didn't look good.

Now you guys have hit all time levels in sales, you've paid back the bail out and you have people that want to order vehicles but you're not fulfilling the orders? People want to buy your highest level Jeep, shouldn't that be a priority order?

Why would you not send SRT's to Canada if you have people wanting to buy them? Hire extra shifts if needed? Build build build. Should this not be a priority?

If we were talking anything that is hand stitched or hand built, like an Aston Martin or Ferrari, then I understand.. but we're not.

So what's the trouble?

Up here the Mercedes ML63 is more common than the GC SRT. It's over $100k!! What gives?
