Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

New guess - 2014 SRT will come in two models.

Normal model with the chrome accents like the 2012/2013 did with chrome wheels

Core model will have the black vapor chrome wheels and it will also replace the chrome trim with blacked out parts in the same location.

Luxury items and HP output will stay the same in both.

Again, just a guess my first guess didn't get any response.

When they announce the new line up in late January, will there be enough photos/data on the two versions so someone buying a 2014 can safely make a good choice when the ordering?

I know there is talk of orders being taken January 9th, but without seeing or knowing the changes exactly, it's difficult to order early. Sort of shooting in the dark. The Core version for the 300 is rumored to be between $3000 and $5000 cheaper than regular version so I wonder what the change for the GC will be like.

As always, thank you for your info, Milous and Scott for breaking it originally!

I can't imagine the weight savings making much of a difference in performance but I would love to be wrong!

Typically every 100lbs in weight savings is good for a tenth in the quarter mile. So with the average '12-13 SRT already running 13.0-13.3, shaving 300lbs could get you into the 12.7-12.9 territory.. Couple that with the 8spd for the '14, and I wouldn't be surprised to see someone squeaking out high 12.6s.

(And shaving 300lbs is very doable.)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Agree that 100 lbs typically equates to 0.1 sec improvement but i jut think that this 5000+lb beast will need to lose more than 300 lbs to get those numbers.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

300 lbs weight saving is welcome but i wish if they made the current jeep all out of alominum just like the RR, that could save at least 500 lbs

all aluminum would put the SRT in the price range of the RR as well

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Any idea how many (roughly) SRT8's go to Western Canada? I spoke with a sales manager at a dealership here and he was claiming that it's a 5 month wait from ordering, and only 8 per month come this way but only after the entire US has it's allotment etc.

For some reason I thought these were made in Ontario, Canada for the Canadian market.. obviously I'm off on this.

I was looking forward to ordering (and still am) but the thought of waiting 5 months... ack

2014 allocations could change, but for the 2013 model year very few SRT's went to Canada - in fact, less than 80 have been built so far for all of Canada.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

So basically order as fast as possible and cross my fingers.

damn.

Well heck, I might as well also wish for Header Orange or B5 Blue while I'm at it.

Is Jan 9th still the date (thus far) for preorders or is that just for regular GC or..

Thanks as always Milous!
