As time progressed I monitored the jeeps each dealer got (through Milous's help) and every single dealer I had talked to get 2-8 jeeps in 2012. The one dealer in Regina that I had originally ordered with told me they had to make specials deals with vans and darts just to get my jeep and it would be the only one they would get. When the dust settled that dealership ended up getting 4 SRT's in 2012.

Purpleman get on the phone and start calling every dealer in AB, SK, MB. I did that back in 2011 when the first wk2's were coming out. I was lucky and found one in Saskatoon that I bought for MSRP.

Be very carefull on where you start putting deposits down. I was burnt by a dealer in Winnipeg and lost half my deposit.
Like I said - some dealers do have buying power and they will see more than one, but several dealers, are lucky to see one at all. At the end of a year, it's a different story as they have surplus that hadn't been sold and dealers trade with other dealers etc. Chrysler sends out others etc but brand new when model year starts, you're not going to find a dealer with some SRT's sitting on lot.

There are people in this very forum that have bought (on Jan 15/16) but their orders aren't even scheduled to be made yet - which to me is the same as not getting one isn't it? Sucks, I wish their dealers would have been more honest with them about their ability to get one.

Some salesman are honest, hard working guys and you stick by them. Some unfortunately are not. I had said to Purpleman before, start doing your homework and you'll find one, same thing you just said. It's not impossible but sure, it takes some effort. These aren't Ferrari's, they're not that rare, you just have to look to find them is all.

Once you have your deposit down, on the receipt have him list the von/vin for you so there is no mistaking it. That way you're not screwed at the end. It would suck to have someone tell you one thing, then it gets sold out from under you because someone was willing to pay 5k more.

Congrats man! I hope you get it!

I understand everything you are saying and I don't want to start a pissing match, I am just trying to replay the exact experience that I had 2 years ago. I was told all the same things and about 90% of it was false. All used as a sale pitch to boost the "exclusivity" of these jeeps.

As far as your comment above, no that doesn't mean they aren't getting one. My original order took 6 months before it was actually scheduled. This reiterates your point about smaller dealers getting less and slower than others but it still happens eventually.

I just want to make sure that people do not believe all the stories that some dealers are telling to sell these jeeps at higher values.

I never said he would find any on lots, which would be impossible in Canada, but they should be able to find one ordered that isn't spoken for.

Important thing to note is this is not a major new release just a refresh so they should be a little easier to get than when Jeep first released the wk2 srt, since all the bugs and pent up demand were taken care of when the 2012 were released. There was also a 2 year wait for the new model to be released were the 2014 was released shortly after the 2012/2013 production was stopped.

If you look back I would be willing to bet the 2014 are getting to lots or customers a lot quicker than the 2012's did.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Nah man, you went through this, I respect that and I agree fully that one shouldn't believe the exclusivity thing if told this from dealers etc. No pissing match. lol

I wasn't told about the exclusivity thing from a dealer though. I was told my info from a little higher up the chain.. well, a lot higher up the chain. I don't want to misrepresent though what I was told either. I'm not saying it's impossible to get one, I am saying most dealers get one for the model year *if at all* for the SRT, unless, they are a network or have decent buying power. If you're a small dealer in small town Canada, can you get an SRT? Sure, at the end of the line, once all other allocations have been filled.

At the end of a model year, yes, if there are extra SRT's around they're easier to come by but at the start - not the same thing. The 14 isn't a new model but it does have new technology so while it won't be as hard as the 12' to get, you might be surprised at how you don't see 14's on the road. If I ever encounter another 14' SRT on the road in Canada I will be amazed. (and then sad, hahahaha)

They are cutting numbers to try and make the SRT brand more exclusive (according to many Ralph Gilles interviews), but no, that doesn't mean they're impossible to get one. It does mean though you won't get one easy, at the start of the launch timeframe unless he is willing to do the work. He did work, started calling and seems to be lined up.

If someone is willing to wait until September/Oct/Nov - I bet they're a lot easier to come by.

There will always be some dealers that flat out lie to the customers to try and make more money. Sucks but yes, that is how it's done for some salesmen. Prob why car salesmen have the bad stigma attached to them. Not all are bad, some are fantastic and work really hard for their customers.

Not sure they are cutting numbers. In 2012 they built 4835 and in 2013 4057. Mind you 2013 was a half year. Iirc in the states they sit on lots so I believe they are building more than they can sell there. In a recent video Ralph's said they'll build around 5000 this year. That's probably carefully calculated to maximize price/demand.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

They didn't build those numbers for Canada tho.. that's North America or USA - Canada got 362 in 2012 and 98 in 2013 but 2013 was a limited 1/2 year because of retooling for '14.

Who knows - maybe it's all a trick. lol

Tell public they are limited numbers.

Sell millions.

A tip of the hat To Milous's site for the numbers. With all the work that guy does for us - time to donate again me thinks!

/off to donate to Milous *again*

Interestingly they built about 10% as many for Canada as the USA. And we are about a tenth of the population... In 2013 they built a third as many as in 2012 for USA and Can, it looks like Australia and the Middle East really picked it up in 2013 as they got 4-5 times as many as in 2012... Hopefully that doesn't continue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features & Changes

Question:

Do all the SRT rim packages come with wheel locks? Couldn't find it on my build sheet. I ordered the black chrome spider monkeys...
