Re: 2014 oil filter part#?

Was the filter from the factory bigger in diameter on yours?

That is what is throwing me off...

The filters were the exact same size. The original factory filter had the part number 04884899AB on it.
I used an Amsoil EAO11 filter and it is exactly the same size. The Mobil 1 and K&N are also the same size as well.
The filter is up there, I also found mine very hard to break free.

In Mexico, where the hemis are assembled, they must use a 6 foot long torque wrench to make sure the oil filter is on really tight. I know the one on my previous 2012 Overland was really hard to loosen. I'm sure when I do the O&F change on my current 2014 Summit, the oil filter will again be on super tight. I'd be disappointed if it wasn't.

Re: 2014 oil filter part#?

My problem isn't that it is tight. Is that the filter on the vehicle is bigger in diameter than the 99AB filters I have on the shelf. I have an oil filter socket wrench that fits the 99AB perfectly; it will NOT go on the filter on the Jeep.

I'm going by the dealer later to pick up a 5 gallon pail of the 0W-40...I'll see if they can throw it on the lift so we can see it. May just have to wait until the next oil change though.

Re: 2014 oil filter part#?

I just changed the oil & filter for the first time on my 2014 Summit V8 and the oil filter wasn't on extremely tight like the original oil filter was on my previous 2012 Overland V8 and 2005 Magnum V8. I was all set to use a 3 foot breaker bar like I had to on the other vehicles.

Re: 2014 oil filter part#?

I found this very extensive cross reference:
CHRYSLER 04884899 AB Engine Oil Filter Cross Reference | zFilters parts finder

I had a Motorcraft FL820S left from my Explorer and it is a correct fit.

By the way, have you-all seen the article on oil filter quality? Link:

Re: 2014 oil filter part#?

Just changed the oil on my 2014 V6 GC. Used oil filter 68191349AA from the dealer.

I also saw this on an internet parts dealer;
As we noted some time ago, the 2014 V6 engines have a redesigned oil filter cap and O-ring, which is not interchangeable with the 2013-model-year engines. The part number for 2013 and earlier filter-and-O-ring kits for V6 engines is 68079744AB; for the 2014 model year, 68191349AA. The kits are not interchangeable — the 2013 kit cannot be used on the 2014 V6, and the 2014 kit cannot be used on the 2013 V6.

I had bought the NAPA gold filter for a 2013 since there was no NAPA 2014 JGC listing, saw the article, and went to the dealer to get the above mentioned filter. There is a difference in the plastic nipple that points down towards the engine between the new Mopar and the 2013 NAPA gold. Not sure what that affects.
