Re: 2014 Shark Fin Antenna on 2012
So a work around if anyone is interested. 2011 with a craven speed stubby looked ok till a car wash caught it and cracked the base so I started reading up on my options. I ended up purchasing a used 2014 shark fin of eBay $35 and tried floon34's method minus hooking up the yellow wire. Although I did get reception it was very poor, not sure if the black wire on the shark fin is intended to antenna amplifier wire. So my option at the point is to order a new 2011 base, visual garage shark fin or get creative. Creative it was because I'm frugal. I took apart the original base that was cracked and simply attached a 2' wire to were the mast would normally contact the internal antenna and simply put it up in the headliner with some double sided tape to hold it down. So long story short the shark fin on my roof is now just a dummy antenna but it looks good and all my radio reception is excellent, better than I was getting with the craven speed.
