Re: 2015 SRT - Tow

Mine has towed a disassembled Bantam and other parts in a Uhaul and it felt like it wasn't towing anything at all.

Re: 2015 SRT - Tow

Anybody have any experience with towing longer trailers? How's the sway. I've got a 25ft pontoon boat that's about 38ft from end to end with the trailer. I haven't tried towing it with the jeep yet because I have a feeling the tail is going to wag the dog so to speak.

SRT lowered on Road Magnet mids, towing w/5 people in truck, trailer roughly 4500lbs loaded. Equalizer hitch was a must, handled amazingly.

Re: 2015 SRT - Tow

Maiden voyage test drive with the wife's Rubi went well. Weight distribution hitch does what it's supposed to. It came with a drop hitch which I have on the lowest setting and I can't quite get the trailer exactly level (1" higher in front), and the weight distribution bars are pretty close to the ground, but otherwise a really good setup. I've never towed before so I certainly feel the ~6,200lbs back there, but once you're cruising it handles great.

Nice stance on your SRT! Is the ride much harsher than stock?

How was it towing with the road magnet springs? Also what hitch did you get?

With the RM mids I find the ride is a little bit harsher on speed bumps & potholes, but overall handling is much improved & I'd say well worth the upgrade. Stance is great, rears are stiffer than stock.

Re: 2015 SRT - Tow

Towed great. The equalizer bars make a huge difference, without them the rear would likely bottom out under load. When hitched up tight it towed like a dream - barely felt anything behind it. Hitch was made by Curt, fairly basic setup was around $400 installed.

Re: 2015 SRT - Tow

I made a cross-country tow in July from West Palm Beach to Tucson with my 2014 SRT. I was towing a 12' UHaul dually - 5400 lb capacity I think. Initially I was a little paranoid at highway speeds (65 - 75 mph), but I gotta say the SRT performed effortlessly.

The only concern I had was thru the Texas mountains in 114 F temps. After a while I noticed my engine oil temps would approach 245 F on the upgrades (water temp was rock solid), so I would often back off to 50 mph.

I just today found that the engine dipstick I have is the wrong one. So I've been running with 6 quarts of oil instead of 7 for the past 2.5 years. That probably had something to do with it.
