2017 SRT Air Box

So i'm trying to figure out if ours got shipped with the incorrect lower air box, ours doesn't the the air snorkel attached to the lower air box but it has the open hole in the bottom and the block off plate like the 2012-2016's did, can every with 17's run out and take a look please.

I'm thinking the 17's should be like this correct?

Re: 2017 SRT Air Box

SRTs come with the one you have. All other engines come with the snorkel

Look at the 1st picture to can see the orange block 6.4L with the snorkel air box

Re: 2017 SRT Air Box

Wow weird the 1st pictures i posted are a 2017 on the lot of a TN dealer with the snorkel air box, Boston what is the last 8 of your VIN number? mine is HC626292 and I done have the snorkel, the one above with the snorkel is HC626296 so between my vin 92 and the vin 96 they swapped to the new correct snorkel air box.

Re: 2017 SRT Air Box

I am only posting because I helped TNMOPAR on the red site where the 17 sepia colored snorkel pic above came from and this is really weird....I am thinking these are changeover errors and not a early/late build thing because I think the change was needed for airflow with the '17 fascia changes (ie fogs). When I saw TNMOPAR's '17 with the functional snorkel and solid bottom in lower box half I discovered that his was identical to my '14 Summit 5.7l (see my pic). I bet the manufacturing line is like, huh? The 12-16 seems to get a good bit of indirect ram air from the driver lower corner/fender inlet even though the washer bottle blocks part of the honeycomb entry but the 17 now has the fog in the way too (ie less ram air getting in). So I am thinking they had to go to the 5.7l snorkel since the low fender path was now too restricted....manufacturing line is probably just confused as 5hit.

Yeah if you take the filter out of a 2017 srt with the old 2012-2016 air box and look at the hole in the bottom of the lower air box it looks very restricted with the 2017 bumper. I am a Jeep technician and I contacted Chrysler engineering friday with this issue and am waiting on a call back hopefully this coming week with some answers due to the fact that some of the 17's have the snorkel box and some have the old box.

yeah it's not linear on s/n as there are many non-snorkel before and after the snorkel one you found and TNMOPAR's snorkel....very curious if snorkel is correct...if so, the bottom only ones like most here may be breathing a bit "hard" with non-snorkel one....answer will be interesting...
