2017 to 14-15 Keep SRT... Am I crazy?

I purchased a brand new 2017 awd blacktop edition Durango RT last November. I had my heart set on getting a 14+ Jeep SRT but couldn't justify spending $10k more for a used Jeep with little to no warranty left as opposed to a brand spanking new hemi Durango, out so I thought. While I do like the Durango, part of me feels that I settled and I'm having buyer's remorse. I know this forum is obviously biased, but if like to know what you guys would do in my situation.

Buyers remorse once identified grows exponentially with time. Go for the GC-SRT. Better do it fast before the SRT Durango launch, since your ride might further depreciate. Been there several times so I feel ya.

And you are not crazy, I'm sure there are lot of us who have been there before. All the best.

Ahh just noticed that I butchered the thread title, I apologize. I may go for it but the depreciation is terrifying, but I should have at least a little leverage because it looks like the 14-15 SRT model years are really hard to move. Wish me luck!

This can go either way....
Ask yourself how many times a day do you go full throttle acceleration on the Durango. If you don't do it at least once a day, don't spend the money. If you do however, you just NEED an SRT ;)

I just test drove a 5.7L Durango R/T today (was bored and shopping for my wife) and, while not TERRIBLY HORRIBLE, the 5.7L just isn't up to the task of knocking your socks off like the 6.4L is.

Jeep SRT or bust!

There is one point we are all ignoring - I also drive an SRT - but it's not really a Jeep anymore is it......
While I have no problems getting the Overland into any trail any other off road vehicle will go (OK not an off road competition or a rally) I will not try to go off road with an SRT. If you want to do any off roading you are stuck with the 5.7

Gents,

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the SRT, I love mine. Just it's a different car then the Overland and Summit. Like saying I have a sedan and should I buy a coupe.

5000% agree with you.
I took a road trip in a buddy's new Overland V6 last weekend. While it is a really nice vehicle, but other than common visual cues, it is a completely different car.

I agree and love mine also. Just wanted to share a rare video of an SRT off-road. There aren't too many videos online.....pretty awesome.

That video doesn't really count as off-road. It was a dirt road with puddles. Literally any 2wd car would easily have driven through. Front or rwd.

I take mine with my little family to the summer cottage a few times per year, 5hr Hwy drive, then 30 mins on gravel forestry service roads, and then 1/2 mile driveway that at times have to pick your lines as it articulates the suspension more than I really want to, but it does it fine.

Just like any awd veh will plow most snow bumper deep. Is the SRT capable? Yes. Would anyone in their right mind attempt to wheel one? Nope. The SRT was not engineered to be an off-road capable vehicle. Jeep would have put the laughable "trail rated badge" on it. Lol.

I must be a "city slicker" then because my SRT has only seen asphalt ;-)

And as it should, nothing wrong with that. I hate to take it on gravel roads and cringe when oncoming truck or logging truck passes. First time I took mine to the lake I got a flying rock chip on the windshield from passing truck. The front end has taken a few small chips to bumper. Should've had the front end covered when I first bought it. I almost slow to a stop now when oncoming vehs passing on those service roads.

Kinda derailed the thread here. Get the SRT or Durango SRT when it's released.

What happened to my thread lol. Well I put down a hefty down payment and traded in my Charger RT when I bought my Durango last fall and my feelings are still hurt by what they offered for a trade in for my 2017 Durango. This is a hard decision!
Not as hard as you'll be when you smash the throttle on the 6.4L for the first time... :D
