Knowing that the Trackhawk is about to be revealed and that the 2018s are right around the corner. What kind of discount should current shoppers be looking to negotiate on a new 2017 parked on the lot?

Is there a rule of thumb like 10% off of MSRP?

10% off puts you right at employee pricing which is still somewhat aggressive on a 2017. The 2016 models were as high as 10-15k off msrp not that long ago.

Niche vehicle, niche market, niche customer. All the dealers I spoke with were more than happy to keep a shiny SRT parked in the showroom until some sucker was willing to pay sticker or a few thousand off thinking they were getting a good deal. Hell a few of them had brand new 15's on the floor that they would not sell for less than sticker.

I originally set out to buy used, but ended up finding a hell of a deal on a 16' night collecting dust on a showroom floor in Kentucky. Figure out your fair drop dead purchase price and hold to it, as long as you're not in a hurry some dealer in the country will play ball. Just all depends on how anxious you get.

Best of luck.

It kind of depends where you stand on base model verses options. I got 2% below invoice, which is roughly $5500 below MSRP. I took delivery in early February. I haven't heard of any rush by dealers to get rid of inventory or offer any steeper discounts on the SRT.

The MSRP on my 2017 SRT was $75k, succeeded in getting it for $67k ($8k below MSRP). There are deals out there.

Fwiw, there was a 2016 SRT night edition velvet red at the dealership for $14k below MSRP. However I was set on getting the 17.

I believe the MSRP in my 16 SRT Night was 76.7k and I got it for about 10k off, so I was right near invoice. This was also back in Oct of 16. They also gave me what I wanted on my trade and it was exactly what I was looking for so I didn't haggle or shop anymore.

There is a brand new bright white 2017 SRT in SoCal (Orange county) for $62K. Almost $6k off MSRP, base model no options...in case someone around that area is interested.

Looking at making a comeback possibly... walked into a dealership yesterday just to look, but may be picking it up today. 2017 with MSRP at 79K. Was sitting on the lot for a few months and marked down near invoice at 74K. They offered at first to lower to 73K, but tried RAPING me on my trades... after some harsh negotiation, I got another 4.5K on my trade value added. Then I asked about employee pricing (if my wife cosigned, I could get it). They said employee pricing is not eligible on the SRT GC, but offered to sell it to me at that price which is about 71K... so 8K off MSRP with a reasonable trade value as well.

If you haven't pulled the trigger already, then you should go to carmax to get your car/s appraised. They always pay top $$$ for your car (sometimes even more than KBB). Their offer is in writing and is valid for one week. Dealerships (in my experience) usually try to come close to the carmax offer and this also limits their BS and other games they might play to low ball you on your trades.
