22s - Weird Performance??
I've had 22" forged 3-piece wheels for a couple of months now. Mounted up they are about 5lbs lighter per corner. They are 22 x 10.5 all the way on 305/35 Pirellis.
My best 0-60 on stock wheels was 4.0 in great weather. In good (not great) weather with the 22s I have managed a few 4.2s and 4.3s already. Here's where it gets weird. Note all runs are in Track mode.
On stock wheels launch control always gave me a few tenths boost in 0-60. For example, my 4.0 was with LC. Same conditions no LC I would have done a 4.4.
On the 22s my 4.2 and 4.3 are no LC, just floor it from zero. A definite improvement over stock wheels. However, when I use LC my 0-60 times are either equal to no LC or slower! For example, if I do a 4.2 with no LC on 22s I will do a 4.6 with LC.
The only thing I can reason is that the PCM has picked up on the wheel change (wider and different weight distribution) and are holding back the LC to protect the drivetrain.
Any other thoughts? Should I disconnect the battery and do a reset to let the tranny relearn?
