Re: $43k --> $55k??

Imagine if it was a modest 13% increase in price. A MSRP of 55K to $58 it would be a home run..Now it's a ground rule double.

Re: $43k --> $55k??

Here's another for you guys:

Jeep SRT8: $55K MSRP
Challenger SRT8: $44K MSRP

So basically to get 2 more doors, a bigger "trunk", and some fancy LED running lights, you're looking at $11K more. And the Jeep isn't even trail rated, i.e. not really much higher off the ground. They both have active suspension, similar options, and basically the same performance... Oh and the Chally has the sweet new touchscreen STANDARD!!

I just might eat my Chrysler-hating words now and go and get myself a new Challenger SRT8. I could do a LOT with an extra $11K in my pocket...

And you can get a supercharger option too...but not on the Jeep.

Thats really a strecth though haha I mean cmon? TWO MORE DOORS?

See if you can go extended and add two doors and interior to the Chally as well as all the other stuff you said for under $12k - aint happening! haha I get what you're saying though, again put the $/product valuation into perspective.

But I still dont think there is any forumla in the car world where $x = x features or amenities or anything. Theres just now way its a possibility to give you more for your $ the higher you go.

Like for instance are the BMWs or Benzs that go for $100k worth $40k more than say the 300C or other $50-$60k cars? Like really, the most expensive cars are the biggest rip off.

I love Ferraris and Lambos as much as the next guy but paying more than a house for one is insane. Just silly, hmmmm a home for my family or a car???

It gets rediculous at some point. And I know how business works so I know why Lambo/Ferarri do what they do price wise and its fine, makes sense but the reality of it all is just nuts

Yeah, I agree, it's like the rip-off meter is exponential, so the more you spend, the more you're ripped off!

As for those exotics, I do agree BUT also remember they are still worth a lot a few years later. It's not like 2-3 years of use and they are only worth $40K. So at least you can still sell/trade them in and get a big chunk back. But you will of course LOSE what you were ripped off by, and then some...

Re: $43k --> $55k??

Even the exotics that "retain" their value don't hold by much, I just saw 2009 lambo gallardo's with a MSRP of 243k on ebay selling for 179k, with only 4k miles on it. That's a 64k loss in 2 years, that is incredible.

Re: $43k --> $55k??

I dont think these Jeeps will lose their value unless the economy tanks. Remember in 09-10 when gas was higha nd 09-10 SRt Jeeps were selling for $10-12K off? Was that becasue thee Jeep was overpriced? NO....the economy sucked.
