the completely loaded 2012 SRT8 Jeep is only like $61,xxx. Where is everyone getting $65k? Then...if you pay msrp...then you didnt shop for a deal.

I quoted $65K because that is the base MSRP of a Cayenne S.

right...but not a cayenne comparable to the Jeep SRT8. Step up to the turbo version for that.....

I wouldn't be surprised if some potential buyers would go for the Cayenne instead. They might sacrifice some performance just to get a Porsche. NEVER underestimate prestige when it comes to luxury-vehicles!

The turbo - by all due respect - plays in its own league. Even if the SRT8 had 800hp...

NOBODY in the market for a Cayenne Turbo would even think about getting an SRT8 instead - for various reasons (prestige, performance, fit&finish etc.). And that's the problem Jeep might be facing. They want people to compare apples to oranges and hope they will forget to do the obvious:

Compare one JEEP-model to the other. Unless Jeep can deliver a good explanation why the SRT8 should cost $7K more than the Overland, some customers will be pi**ed.

Re: 470hp 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - Features/Specs Update July 2011

I have driven the cayenne s, gts and turbo s. I know all about them...and IMO....they are no better than the 2011 Overland(which is what I have to compare) in any of what you posted...fit, finish, etc. I do know that maint. will be MUCH more. My wife has a Lexus and its just part of owning a luxury brand vehicles......

for example- I can take my Jeep to the dealer have have the oil changed for $21.95. Same service for her Lexus is $129.

That is another problem: Once you enter the higher price territory, maintenace-costs and other expenses become less important. If you buy a Cayenne Turbo, that's the last thing you care about.

And vehicles like Cayennes are almost never bought for their value. The "seller" is prestige. I bet even the majority of SRT8-vehicles are just bought for that purpose - certainly not because it's practical to have a 160mph-vehicle in a country that has no Autobahn...

I guess we are simply disagreeing on the fit&finish when it comes to Porsche.

As I said in a different post, it is very likely that I'm going to get an SRT8 in a few years as well because I do see the whole picture - but I do understand that it is difficult to justify the difference in price of almost $15K between a fully loaded Overland and SRT8. And I'm convinced that this comparison is the one that will be made over and over....

a FULLY loaded Overland Summit at my dealer stickers for $52K+...a FULLY loaded SRT8 is like $62K+....thats $10K difference.

Buy a 6 pot brembo big brake set...or even better...go buy a new 6.4L hemi. Not to mention the ads Bilstein suspension....and so on......

Except it's $13,000 more than an Overland similarly equipped.

You should compare a non-Summit Overland with a hemi and adaptive cruise to an SRT8 with Lux II and panoramic sunroof.

The Summit is charging an extra $3000 just for a different color interior and polished wheels ($4000 with adaptive cruise and blind spot monitoring).

Yep, fully loaded, it's even worse than base.

Keep in mind that the Overland comes with brakes and an engine as well...
