Very true. If I hadn't been forced to unload my 06 my guess is I would still have. But ever since I had to let it go, I have been jonesing for a 400+ hp AWD platform.

I will buy this Jeep probably in the spring when the hype settles. I have been watching for the last few years regarding what is going to happen with the SRT8 lineup. I guess in hindsight, given the economy we should all be lucky we even have an SRT8 Jeep for 2012. Once the crisis with the auto industry hit I was almost 100% sure we would never see another one...

Let's see when this thing hits the streets what we are dealing with. I guess when you think about it we don't have too many $50k options out there where I can strap in 3 baby seats with AWD performance and run the 1/4 in high 12's low 13's.

When I said the "baddest", that implied that it was the top dog in performance. Not so much anymore, but it's still a good price!

What the hell does me modding a PERFORMANCE SUV have to do with "maybe you should have bought a 5.7 and modded it"????????

Maybe you should check WKJEEPS again, they produced 11717 SRT8's from 06-10, not only sold that many! I bet if you look at how many were produced, as to how many sold, the Jeep kicked the Snailblazers ass. They were in limited production as compared to the TBSS. Thats why every swinging prick doesn't have one around town! A stat that I'm proud of.

Actually I have run 12.3's cam and tune only genious! All of the mods I have put me in the low 12's, but I was doing low 12's when I just had the cam and tune alone and the other mods didn't help all that much, and that's not including the spray, which is in the 11's. I refer to this because the new 6.4 should be there naturally aspirated to be inkeeping with making this thing faster than the original. What if they made the next Gen. Corvette slower or just barely faster than the previous model? People would $hit a brick!

It's people like you who limit the possibilities of what this thing could have been by crying about towing and all the foo foo crap that luxury vehichles have. Again, I don't care how many Chrysler sells, I have a Jeep that is in limited production and will go down as a classic one day because there isn't 30,000 of them a year produced. I love it that way!

Speed isn't really the question though because everybody knows that all it takes to go faster is money, but I know that more people are going to look at the WK1 SRT's and say "that thing looks f$%king bad ass" than there are people saying that about the WK2. It doesn't have the same curb appeal that I bought the first gen. for, period!

Oh, and most of the friends I have with the TBSS's have said the new SRT8 looks too much like the regular Grandcherokee's and that the old Jeep was more badass looking, so I don't think their rushing out to buy them anytime soon.
The tow package is an OPTION and so the new WK2 is available without towing. And the WK's center exhaust doesn't help performance anyway.

Chuck and Brian,
I'm settling this once and for all!!!! When I can get this wk2 srt8 for the $41,500 I got my '10 for (new Jan. 10, 12 days after date of manufacture) and there is at least a 6 speed tranny in it then I will have two in my garage. Re: 5150 Curb Weight....Ugh!!!

I read online somewhere (I think caranddriver) were they said that the point of the new SRT8 was to be better not faster. Since everyone cried that a car that was made for high speed performance wasn't too civil on the street (who would have thought that was going to happen ) they pretty much raped the SRT WK look to make it better for all the cry babies that cried about how they can't tow and the gas sucks and the ride was too hard. From what I took from it, the engineers could have cared less if the new SRT8 was faster than the old one.

Some of us are in the market for a new Grand Cherokee and just happen to like the new SRT 8 version for the looks; track, sport, auto, snow, tow settings; and power more than the Overland.

Re: 5150 Curb Weight....Ugh!!!

What looks? The front look slightly "meaner" yet ricer like while the tail looks the same and the side view look like someone wanted to go with bigger wheels and tires but was too cheap to pay for the bigger size compared to the non SRT WK2s. All in the name of making the crybabies happy. I'm sorry but compared to the WK1 SRT, the WK2 SRT is a shameful POS. I said it once and I'll say it again, if I could pick between a used WK SRT and a brand new WK2 SRT, I would go with the used one in a hard beat.

Times in speed may not have changed but I'll be shocked if the same could be said in handling.

Seems to be it's you guys. And you obviously haven't read much on here about it actually being FASTER AND BETTER HANDLING!!!

Re: 5150 Curb Weight....Ugh!!!

Yep, us crybabies are the ones that are willing to spend 50 large for a vehicle that isn't the best at anything it does because we need the utility it provides. We also demand a degree of refinement and looks that allow us to use the vehicle in ways some with less time on this planet haven't grown to appreciate. If you want balls to the walls performance at the cost of everything else there are a number of vehicles that do virtually everything better than the WK/WK2 SRT8 at a fraction of the cost, perhaps those are better suited to all the "bad boys" crying foul on the new SRT8.

Re: 5150 Curb Weight....Ugh!!!

I'm giving up on this argument When it comes down to it, we're all gonna be Jeep people at the end of the day. I may get passionate about this, but thats what makes us car buffs. I may not agree that the new WK2 is better in every way, but it's still an SRT8 and thats cool. I think the interior is sweet, but I'm not happy that it looks so plain from the front fenders back. I don't think I'm ever gonna get rid of the one in my garage because the WK1 SRT8 is gonna be a legend. Every day I take it out there's always somebody that comes up to me and says "that thing is one bad ass Jeep" and it makes me feel good that I spent 40 large on the damn thing. I can't wait to roll on a new WK2 SRT and race the hell out of it. It brings some competition between our own kind and thats cool. I'm sure that it'll be a nice rig, but I'm leaning towards a Chally or Viper for the next rig in the stable. At the end of the day I'm a Chrysler man and that's how I've always been, thanks to my pops who just happens to have worked for the f#$kers my whole life. Haha! Maybe after the third year revision they'll change the look a bit because of all of us who want it to be more aggressive Anyways, I'm f-ing hung over! Peace out!
