I'm really surprised you were the only Jeep owner. From what you could see, what is the most popular SRT vehicle? And what was your top speed on the track? From my thread, you can see that on Route 93 to Las Vegas, I got the beast up to 150, and could have gone still faster if I hadn't lifted my foot. I'll bet that on the track you easily did 165.

Great write up.

Most popular SRT vehicle at the SRT experience I attended near Chicago was the challenger. Probably about 30 challengers, 3 jeeps, 5 chargers, and 1 or 2 300's. unfortunately we had a short track, didn't go much faster than 105.

I wonder why the SRT Experience was held on such a short track? Our Jeep is barely warmed up at 105. 105 is a nice cruising speed on the Interstate. You never had a chance to open it up. I found that at 150 it was solid as a rock, but didn't want to push my luck.

There is a brand new SRT in the subdivision next to mine. I see it when I walk my dog. I dont know if it just my area, but I see a lot of WK SRT's and I am starting to see several WK2 SRT.

Should have stuck with your original color choice. :-)

When the Deep Cherry Red Metallic Clear Coat glistens in the sun, it is absolutely stunning. I've never regretted my choice. In my opinion, the best ever red color on a Jeep is the Inferno Red Metallic Clear Coat on my son's 2006 SRT8. I don't know why Jeep discontinued Inferno Red, but I guess it's normal policy for them to change colors from year to year. If you get a 2013, what color will it be?

I've posted all the Jeep related pics of this road trip, so I guess that's it for now. Hope you enjoyed this thread.

The Challenger seemed to be the most popular. This track didn't have a long stright strech either. I got the Challenger up to 111 is all. Not sure but I think i only had the jeep to 106.

I've never had the opportunity to drive my Jeep on a track of any kind, so I'd appreciate your comments on what limits the speed on a short track. Is it the G force as you enter the curves, or lack of a sufficient straight stretch? On a track I would be a total novice, but I would think that given sufficient laps, you could gradually build up speed. I got my beast up to 150 quickly on Route 93, but I must admit that holding that speed around a curve would have been a challenge. How fast were the Pro instructors able to go on your short track?

Re: 6290 mile road trip through 14 states

Thanks for the write up. I plan on picking up a 2014 SRT and I was going back and forth between the SRT or the Overland/Summit. I wanted the guts of the SRT, but I was worried it would be terrible on the highway for being too stiff or uncomfortable. Your post put me at ease. Thanks =)

Happy Holidays!
