All joking aside, I am torn on what to do. I have always had a Jeep and sold my 5.9L to pay off my student loans before coming to Iraq to work. I have been following the Jeep SRT community daily for the past 5.5 years anxiously awaiting for when I would return to the States and buy one. Now, the time to return the States is right around the corner and the price hike is hard to swallow. There are plenty of options (not just performance SUV's) in the $50K range. The new WKSRT8 has most everything I wanted...except the price. At this point, I am not sure what I am going to do.
I look forward to seeing these once people get their hands on them. All I can hope is that the recent unexplained delays in production are somehow do to the entire community (dealers and consumers) upset with the pricing.
Ford and Chevy have continuously won the HP wars and the fact that their platforms are so easy to modify (with the support of the MFG) doesn't help Chrysler either. I feel that if the new SRT line either came with the rumored superchargers or had in the neighborhood of 550HP (similar to what Ford and Chevy offer) that the recent price hikes would be seen as somewhat justified and easier to accept.
I personally have made peace with the price. I have since then gotten more and more excited about this Jeep. That being said I am going nuts with all of this waiting for production to begin!!!!
I know I have seen different posts all around this forum and other websites as to when production will start and then how it hasn't started yet, but being new to the build to order car game like I am I am curious what it means. For instance I think I have seen here that people are saying they haven't started production, so what does that usually mean is holding it back? Is it that there are issues with the vehicle itself? Or is it something simple like a mechanical arm in the factory is having to be replaced?
Im hype!!!! Cant wait to see it, drive it, hear it, smell it, maybe even lick it? Uhhhh nvm, were talking about the Jeep right? Def between that and the future LE model or maybe even the Charger (need 4 doors) or a lightly used C63 AMG! Like to stay under $50k with less than 30k miles
All we know is that it has been postponed indefinitely. I wish I knew the reason because it's driving me crazy waiting for my status to change on my build order.
I know some of you have had SRT8 Jeeps before and I had one previously. But it had transfer case issues, so bad in fact that I had to get it replaced. It was a used one so I think it was more of a previous owner issue. That being said when I get this new one is there anything I need to be aware of or anything I can do to make sure the transfer case doesn't go out?
I don't know... 60k for a ride that does mid 13s is not that impressive. If you are looking for performance there are way better options out there. My evo with mild mods runs low 12s at about half the price and I get over 20 mpg. Just remember your 60k "performance suv" is going to lose to a lot of 30k evos, camaros and mustangs at the track.
Yea... Your missing the point. It's an suv not a sports car. I'm also pretty sure that it will give my camaro ss a run for it's money. The jeep will also be a much nicer, luxurious car compared to an evo that's border line ricer (no offense)
not everyone gives a shit about racing the 1/4 mile........
theres also $10k cars that will smoke the $30k evo, mustang etc. I dont understand comparing it to coupes.......you guys are beating a dead horse to a friggin pulp
I am with you and just would like to know what is going on with production. I don't understand why jeep made the 2012 srt8 available to order over 2 months ago even sent me a email advertising about it. Then the price that came, overwhelmed me but came to live with it. Then start this SRT8 tour. I am just about to give up on this jeep. I have been in a Von status for over 6-weeks and don't know if the order will be accepted. Does any one know what is going on with production.
