I could pay cash for it and might do that; so It's not a problem for me. I guess I should have said of the dollars I'm willing to spend for this vehicle, $46k is as high as I'll go.

Also, LOL at $25k vehicle. My trade will get me $15k toward my next vehicle anyway. Maybe I'm not stretching my dollars at all I guess.

Actually, there's no such thing as a "Dealer" invoice. The only Invoice is what the factory supplies to the dealer and is what floor plan is based on.

What the dealer actually pays is is completely different and I suppose you could call that the "dealer" invoice but there's no such legal document.

It's different for every dealer, every car and changes every month as the floor plan ages and the dealership incurs costs. If you've worked at a dealership you know commission is usually calculated on the difference between the sales price and the printed Invoice price plus any carrying charges. All the other back end payments like hold back, advertising and incentives are not factored in when the salesman gets paid. On occasion there are some direct incentives paid to the sale people from the manufacturer but that varies widely and is really none of our business.

In fact, what the dealer actually pays for the vehicle is really none of our business. I remember the day when no one had access to the "Invoice" except the dealership employees. Since the Internet and services like NADA, KBB and Edmunds Invoice has become a relatively meaningless number and manufacturers have been forced to inflate that and provide back end incentives to cover the difference just so their customers, the dealers, could actually make a living. Anyone that actually thinks they are purchasing a vehicle at or below what the dealer really paid is deluding themselves.

Re: Affiliate pricing

I've already put a modest deposit on my 2012 SRT8 and am waiting for the order date. I have my control number for the affiliate program but can't get a clear answer from my dealer. They say they will give the discount if Chrysler covers the SRT8 in the affiliate program. Last time I checked only 2011 vehicles are included and Jeep and Chrysler SRT's are not even mentioned. What's the real story?

Re: Affiliate pricing

Add me to the list. Order sheet is spec'd out and dealer is just waiting for order bank to open for the U.S.A. Thankfully, they also said they will honor the Affiliate Pricing so long as Jeep/Chrysler allows it on the vehicle. If not, it's MSRP.

Thus......Jeep/Chrysler could save or cost me a few thousand dollars they won't even see!! Hope they accept it

Re: Affiliate pricing

So I had my dealer place an order for a new 2012 SRT8. Obviously there is no pricing YET but should I still sign up for this affiliate pricing thing? I mean, will my dealer try to give me a price thats above what this 1% discount will do for me? I never get how the dealers do deals these days.. I see like 3 dif prices on the stickers usually, MSRP, invoice, and something else? Call me stupid but can someone help me out with all this? I want to get the best possible price and if this $60 membership will save me a few grand then im all for it. But if my dealer can just give me a good price to match this affiliate thing then whats the point of wasting $60?

pay $60 to save $3000+? I'll take those returns all day long, can I get my retirement account to start doing that?????

See my other post regarding this question you had in the other thread. Participation and sale price are completely up to the dealer accepting to do it.

It is suppose to be 1% below invoice, not just 1% which is pretty significant. I'm expecting around $47K for my fully loaded SRT8. I am still trying to get a friend that works for Fiat to see if I can get his 5% below invoicing price.

Re: Affiliate pricing

Well, I spent the last couple of hours researching the topic of Tread Lightly's affiliate program, and it appears to be genuine. Wether or not the invoice price they claim is what the dealer actually pays is a whole other matter, but one that I am not really concerned with. I joined and am kind of happy just knowing that i contributed to a worthwhile cause although I would be lying if i said the reason i joined was anything other than the discount. Either way Tread Lightly seems to be a respected organization so I paid my $60 dollars and will hope for the best.
