AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

Well I'm pretty sure I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of iForged 22s. Equip V3 with deep concave. I really wanted 21s but the tire selection just isn't there. I'm going to go from one problem tire to a new problem tire. My issue is I can't decide on the finish. I loathe black wheels and I don't want anything too blingy. However, I've fallen in love with the factory black chrome. WIth that said, I'm afraid black chrome barrel and black chrome center will be too blingy in 22s. Down the road when I sell the Jeep and my wheels it may be difficult to sell them. Now I've been leaning towards this exact finish: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...LwWlW2KkOYPPtQ

Other ideas have been black chrome barrel and anthracite center or anthracite barrel with black chrome center...

Can't decide.

Also, for 22 guys with FORGED wheels running the 305/35r22 are you having any issues with bent wheels? Is that enough meat or will these rims bend very easily?

Re: AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

I can't comment on most of your questions but I had a set of wheels very close to that color (whole wheel same color) in the past and they looked great. I would do that color for the spokes and black chrome barrels or the whole wheel the same color. I personally am not a fan of the "2 color" wheels.

Re: AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

i had viper reps in black chrome on my WK. calchrome did them and they were spectacular/

anyone who saw them asked about the finish and how they look dark at night and NEVER blingy. just saying. and different from every angle.

other point would be that the spokes dont have all that much surface area compared to the barrels. so less area to catch light. so less bling that other type wheels.

i would go all black chrome/

Re: AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

1. I would stick to a 1 color rim
2. That color would look stunning for sure! I like it.

Re: AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

Another question for aftermarket wheel guys. What's the procedure with the TPMS? Do I order an extra set from Mopar? Can discount tire supply the TPMS?

Re: AftermarketWheel Finish Advice...

1. have you contacted iForged and actually gotten an estimate yet? From my past wheel guru days I can tell you they were either a) difficult to deal with and flighty or b) got you what you wanted, but since they are all custom made (and mostly for BMW/Benz/Porsche clients) they took forever.

2. Go all one color, very very few cars pull off the two-tone look. if you find any paint or procedure that can duplicate the black chrome on our spyder monkeys, please let us know.

3. Forged rims have a lower chance of bending/cracking than non-forged. 305/35 tires are the best option of your choices.

4. TPMS are universal I believe. Mopar's are probably going to cost way more than other places, look around for best price.

I think as long as the frequency with which the TPS communicates the info is correct you'll be ok. I want to say 433 MHz.
