Re: Alarm

I have an oz spec my 2014 where the alarm seems to be related to it sensing something on the seats. The first time it was a mate I locked in while I went to the shop. The second was some gear on the seat. Most recently it was the dog in his cage on the back seat. The alarm sounded after I had locked it and was far enough away for it to be a nuisance- about 50 to 200 meters. It seems to me that this may be a safety feature. Has anyone experienced this and know how to disable it?

Re: Alarm

The reasons the alarm is going off is it has Ultrasonic sensors near the rearview mirror.
People or animals in the car will set it off, as will leaving the windows down on a windy day.
If it is a regularly random false alarm, then the bonnet switch seems to be a regular problem.

Re: Alarm

Thanks to all for the replies. The ultrasonics explains it. I had always wondered why I had "stereo microphones". Is there any way to deactivate them when needed?

Re: Alarm

Using the actual knobs works... keeps the alarm from setting but what a PAIN!
After unhooking the hood latch sensor and finding out it wasnt that... I have plugged it back and and its broken lol... Cant remote start "Hood Open"

Need inspection so off to the dealer to fix it ... again...

Re: Alarm

Mine started acting up a couple of weeks ago.
Tried leaving the hood open alar still went off a few minutes later.

All windows closed no animals in car.
Sprayed insecticide in car to kill any stray moths in there.

Still sounding, out of warranty not sure what to do next.

Try locking with key fob then pressing lock on the key fob three more times. This seems to disable the ultrasonics ( as a minimum - not sure if it disables the whole alarm). The vehicle remains locked and leaving window or sun roof open does not activate the alarm. This works for a my14 oz edition at least, but I do not have remote start. It may be worth a try. Hope it works for you.
