I'm just telling you what all of my 4 car mags tell me along with my other feeds of info. Just for the record you can also look at all the options and "inventory " on the Jeep SRT8.

There are 2012 911s out there, but these are carry-overs of the 997.2 that was released in 2009. The all new 911, known by its internal designation number 991, will be revealed later this year and go on sale early next year as a 2013 model here in the US and as a 2012 model in the rest of the world.

The new 911 will be bigger with a Panamera derived interior and should weigh a bit less than the out going 997. Engine output will go up slightly and the manual transmission will be a seven speed based on the PDK. It should be an amazing car, but you will have to pay to play.

Thank you. Wow, I thought if it was a 2012 911 it would be the new version. Appreciate your information.

Re: Alternatives to the overpriced WK2 SRT8

I believe that my Audi RS4 should also be considered for your list--fast, 4 doors, awd, exclusive and modifiable, although there are very few really low-mileage ones left (mine has 5,300 miles). After the real MSRP of the SRT8 was released, I realized that I didn't need one after all, I'd just keep the RS4. Okay, I can't go off-roading but I suspect that I wouldn't do it with the SRT8 either. I was one of the few who actually waited a bit after it was first introduced, bought it in Nov 2007 for a whopping $10k off MSRP, which was quite unusual at the time. I suspect the same could happen for the SRT8, especially in the face of the additional economic downturn which Washington has manufactured over the last several weeks. All this bad news won't create a positive environment.

We have a 2011 Overland Summit and have that for any off-roading we might do and will keep that for now. Really love it and was extremely excited to see its release as an SRT product. Was looking forward to some of the performance attributes of the SRT8 but that will have to come at some future point.

Re: Alternatives to the overpriced WK2 SRT8

I always loved the RS4, and if it wasn't for the fact that I need a SUV with towing capabilities, I would have loved to own one.......
Maybe in a year or so as a garage queen......
