Nic, this statement is very true.
I just had mine fitted by my local exhaust shop and the whole even cost me double what it would have cost if he made it up himself.

He said the muffler delete custom made would have been $350 fitted.

The Mufflex kit cost me $502 landed in AU after currency conversion and shipping and $200 to have it fitted. The kit required some modifications and I was fussy how it looked, so we played around a bit to make it look right.
Overall I am happy with the sound and the look, but in hindsight I would have gotten a local exhaust shop to make one up for me.

I am looking to get my local shop to do the rear resonators delete with 5" tips and would love to hear what your mate recommends to get the best sound from his experience?

Re: Another Mufflex exhaust happy customer.

I just did the dual rear delete while keeping the stock tips and it cost me 150.00. Done in an hour. It's effectively the same thing as a mufflex job. Mufflex isn't a ripoff but agreed, it's silly to ship a couple pipes/tips across the planet imho.

Re: Another Mufflex exhaust happy customer.

Does all the Rear Axle back exhaust mod have a similar increase in Power to borla Exhaust?

Would love to hear a sound clip?
I was quoted about the same price for muffler delete, plus whatever the new tips cost if I want to change them.

Re: Another Mufflex exhaust happy customer.

I went into a local exhaust shop this morning in Ingleburn around where I worked. I asked the guy how much it for the muffler delete using mild steel and using the existing tips. He says because of the amount of work required it would be $400....each side. I nearly fell over on the spot and just walked off without even saying goodbye.

Anybody know of any good muffler shops in the hills district area or Parramatta that don't hit the crack pipe so early?

Re: Another Mufflex exhaust happy customer.

Mine was $1400 from the cats back two small 2.5" hotdog Type mufflers upfront and a magnaflow x chamber in the rear. Sounds like a true fuking v8 now. Added the k&n cia and that made it even better. Quite at cruising speeds with no drone but give it a bootful and all heads turn.

There's been examples of this suitcase delete where it can cause excessive sonic/pressure wave pulsations that travel directly back to the stock rear resos and cause them to crap out after several months. Apparently the suitcase mitigates these pulsations and protects the rear resos from damage. This is why I deleted the rears and not the suitcase. It sounds basically 'exactly' like the mufflex system. Smooth rumble under light/medium acceleration and roars at W.O.T. No ricey fart noises or Corsa style tin can rattle/rasp (which I absolutely hate!) It's deep/smooth, like a tubi exhaust on a lamborghini but a much deeper bass V-8 note. Just perfect and so cheap to do. Dropping a grand or 3 on an exhaust is insanity i.m.o.

Re: Another Mufflex exhaust happy customer.

Had the rear muffler delete done last Thursday, $200 with some 5" tips.
Really happy with it, nice rumble on start up and slow acceleration. A mean loud growl when you give it a boot full, but almost silent when cruising around normally. I think it is even quieter than stock exhaust when cruising because it doesn't drone like when stock. Haven't done hwy cruise yet so will see what those rpm' sound like soon.
